Well last nights poker was kind of meh. There are maybe 5 people there who are fun to play with, the rest are mind-numbingly stupid idiots who can't play poker for SHIT and think they can, you all know the type. I played a fair amount of chinese poker and made about $250 (we were playing $5 a point, so that's actually a pretty darn good win). It was mostly 2 and 3 handed but by the end we had 4 people playing and I must say it's a lot more fun with 4 players but it made my head hurt so much when after every, single, hand, everyone was like "ok so who wins what what do i win who do i owe how much to why don't i win who owes me money" and I basically have to tally up the scores. We ended up switching to using chips instead of pen + paper after a while which was a good move but it still got pretty frustrating.
The $100 freezeout was hilarious. 2 minutes into it I was bored shitless and just couldn't stand getting hands at the rate of 20 an hour, especially when I would get 3-4 unplayable hands in a row. So I basically took any playable hand to the felt. Case in point:
Hand 1) 25/50 blinds, LAG raises in EP to 250, one caller, I call OTB with
, a blind calls.
Flop is
and it checks to me, I bet 700. Folds to the guy to my right who called pf and he makes it 1600 or something. I call.
Turn is the
he bets 2000, OMG I HAVE A GUTSHOT TOO?? I CALL.
River is a brick, 4 or something. He checks, I check. He flips over 55, awesome!.
Then I got my stack in with 56 vs AA on a 963r flop and didn't hold up.
I left pretty early and just came home and crashed.
This morning I put in a short session of like an hour, won about $650. I'm about to go out to look at another apartment and then hand in application forms for the two I looked at a couple of days ago (and maybe the one I see today too depending on how it looks). I really really want to get one of these, LUCK ME.
Poker is silly.
It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.
Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.
