TT OOP With a Station

Postby DonkiFornication » Wed Mar 07, 2007 4:13 am

Usually, I only play 3/6HU, but I've been trying to work on a gear that's more solid, so I've been mixing it up with a lot of 2/4 and 3/6 lately and tonight I 8-tabled 3/6 on Stars/FTP. There are a lot of more solid players on this board than the ones I converse with mostly on AIM, so I'll be posting more hands.

Villian was a station and though I was playing solid, the little amount of hands I did play with this guy, double barreling was very profitable. I settled down and check/folded the last hand on a 4-7-8 board when a K fell on the turn and I had AQ just to give him a little respect. This hand was about 2-3 hands later. I don't know if he was getting sick of me yet, so how does this look to you guys? This is how I'd play it at a HU table against this sort of guy. Look good?

Actually, if this were a HU table, i'd probably bet:

Flop $60
Turn: $150-$160 into the ~$190
River: 1/2 the river

Anyone putting a CR in this turn?

Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

I think you make a big mistake thinking about this hand in terms of HU play.
UTG calls 6$, you play against UTG here, who limped preflop on 6 handed table, his hand range is way different from the range of your HU opponent.

Back to the hand. Against a CS I like your flop and turn line, going for turn CR is not good as he will check behind with all the draws. River card is a scary one, here I would bet/fold against a CS, but with a board paired I doubt that he would raise his straight here. I would probably bet smaller here, like 100-120$. His range on the river is straights, stupid one pair hands, missed flush draws. If he calls 200$ with A7 here, then I am ok with it, but I am afraid that he would fold such hands to this bet and will call only with straights.

Edit, read Roy's post.
We agrre on most points, but I disagree about river check/call. probabliity that CS will call 120 with A8 is much higher than he will bet A8. River bet/fold >>> check/call. Assuming we bet 120.

I fully admit that my river play is my main weakness....havign said that, I wouldnt bet this river. Maybe I should be betting it but it seems very thin to me.

If I was going to bet it would probably be $114 again....Nah, I dont like that either..Im checking.

Fkr had Q6o.

I agree with a check/call on the river. I pounded the guy 'cause he's a Station, then made a pointless riverbet.

I agree with Zmej here. I know in my initial post I said a check-call was good, but I didn't consider betting ~$120 when I made that post, and that seems like a better option.
