Here's a hand I just had:

Fairly straightforward, very tight EP player (13%/5%) raises max. Folded to me in MP, and I have decent AA. What's my play here? (I'm full stacked and EP covers)

What I actually did was call, but I wonder whether this isn't better a fold without AAds (mine was ss). I'm 90% sure EP has AA, so I'm not going to set (nor is he). Also, if I call, I attract in some LP players, who are actually decent favorites with any 4 short of trips.

If I raise, I think EP will push, and (while my AA here was middle of the road, so probably coinflippish) we're taking variance on $100 each over blinds amounting only to $1.50.

Anyhow, while the call is at most a mistake of $3.50, I just wondered if you guys think this is a waste of money without having them ds, in which case maybe a mini-raise might be in order in the hope of excluding the others (?). I guess I could also have mini-raised my medium-strength AA for the same purpose, then tried to take if away from the guy on a scary board with some deception on my part. He's going to think possible AA no doubt after the mini-raise, but I don't think it's necessarily a given... ?

if the guy is that predicatable with his raises and such and you have other side interests and position, call and hope its heads up. you know what he has and he doesn't know what you have so you can push him off his hand many times. if too many people get in the pot, you can just give it up on a missed flop. if you get one other caller, you can try to just call whateve he bets on the flop and take it away on turn when he will often check it to you.

basically, you aren't playing your hand as much like AA as you are playing whatever hand he doesn't want you to have since you can represent anything.

If you have a wide enough reraising range I would make a small reraise, say to $8 or so. That way he cannot 4bet because stack sizes don't work for that, so he has to flat call, and you should be able to outplay him postflop.
It's annoying if others come along for the ride because then he may be able to get the required 1/3 of his stack in (in which case I'd simply put the rest in and hope to split the dead money or be part of the gambling fest), but I don't think there's much you can do.
Obviously the better the AA hand the more inclined I am to reraise. With a really poor hand I think you can also argue for a fold (yes I know there are people who will never fold AA preflop).

Ah well. I still think it was worth being in there, though. You CAN fold all bar 10% of hands or something but I just don't see how you get any action doing that.

lol... Well, I definitely would play something like 16%-18% in this situation. When it happened, I just wondered if AA should be out of the mix unless it's a top-notch one--maybe EP didn't have that anyway.
