Playing against known idiots
The following are a bunch of hands from today's session mostly vs known idiots on some scary boards. All 1/2 limit FR
ANSWERS BELOW
HAND 1:
[As] in BB
MP1 (59/16/30 - just plain bad) raises, folded to me I 3-bet of course, he caps, I call
Flop is YUCK.
[5h][3h] Pot 8.5 SB
I bet out and it gets capped again on the Flop.
Pot 8.25 BB
Against a decent opponent I'm leaning towards giving up here, but this guy is soooo bad that I'm not sure if it's worth it to call 2 more BB for a chance to win 10.25 BB. Getting 5-1 vs a complete idiot to call down, is this worth it?
HAND 2:
MP1
[Tc]
UTG+2 limps, I limp, Button raises, BB calls, we both call.
- A few words on UTG+2 (45/12/31 over 266 hands). He will call down with any pair and will bet into raisers and even 3-bet with GSSD's. Somehow though he always ends up catching at least 2 pair in big pots. He will play 93s and flop bottom pair but end up with 2 pair on the river all the time. He's actually +7 BB/100 over 266 hands playing this way.
- Button is just as bad if not worse (48/12/45)
[5c][7h] Pot 8,5 SB
BB/UTG+2 check, I bet, Button calls, BB folds, UTG+2 raises, I 3-bet, Button folds, UTG+2 caps, I call.
Pot 8.75 BB
UTG+2 bets, I call
Pot 10,75 BB
UTG+2 bets, I ????
HAND 3: - This is a weird hand
Button
[9h]
UTG (25/5/38 - a semi-calling station) limps, I raise, he calls
[4s][Ad] Pot 5.5 SB
He checks, I bet, he calls
Pot 3.75 BB
He bets. Now that's wierd! I was actually going to check behind, but now I have 2-pair AND he's betting into me. I have no clue here! I raise and he just calls.
Pot 7.75 BB
He bets into me again after just calling the turn raise????? A2????? I'm definitely calling but am I raising top 2 here?
HAND 4:
Button
[Qh]
I open-raise (read steal to BB), BB calls.
BB is Button from hand 2 (48/12/45)
[7d][8d] Pot 4.5 SB
BB checks, I bet, he calls.
Pot 3.25 BB
BB checks, I bet, he calls
Normally I may think of checking vs tighter opponents, but the fact that there were straight and flush draws on the board + BB's only pre-requisite to go to showdown was that he was dealt exactly 2 cards made me bet again.
Pot 5.25 BB
He checks again. HORRIBLE card. Easy check behind or do I try to bet this knowing that he'd call down with anything?
HAND 5: Slowplay gone wrong?
[8d] BB
MP1 (fairly new, but seemed ok) raises, SB calls, I call.
[8c][8h] Pot 6 SB
SB bets???, I call on a very safe board looking for c/r, but MP1 only calls.
Pot 4.5 BB
SB bets again, no more slowplay - I raise, MP1 insta-3bets, SB folds, I call.
WTF was that??? Did I just slowplay myself into a 2 outter?
Pot 11.75 BB
I check/call
HAND 6: Value bet river or check - questions on every street
[Qd] SB
UTG (dummy from hands 2 and 4 - 48/12/45) limps, poster in MP1 checks, I call (marginal to raise here?), BB checks.
[8d][4d] Pot 4 SB
I bet, BB calls, UTG calls, MP1 poster raises, I call (raise here because of overs or keep in because of flush draw - can MP1 have bigger flush draw?), BB calls, UTG calls
6 BB
Checked to MP1 poster who bets, all call
Pot 10 BB
Value bet or not here?
HAND 7:
[Qd] CO
MP2 Lucky dummy from hand 2 (45/12/31 +7 BB/100 over 266 hands) raises, I 3-bet, MP2 calls.
[5c][Kc] Pot 7.5 SB
I NEVER 3-bet KQo, but I had to make an exception vs this guy.
He bets into me on the flop. Raise or call down?
HAND 8:
[6c] SB
UTG (weakly played 44 for boat before) limps, CO (solid) raises, Button (weak passive semi-caller from before) cold calls, I call 1.5 from SB, BB folds, UTG calls.
[Th][6s] Pot 9 SB
CO bets, Button calls, I c/r, UTG folds, CO and Button call
I don't consider this a monster, but probably the best hand right now. I figure I have a better chance of knocking out UTG by c/r than I do of knocking out Button by betting out and letting CO raise which he may not even do. Is c/r the best play here?
Pot 7.5 BB
UH-OH! What now?
HAND 1:
I called down. He had
[Qh] for the turned flush. Capped preflop and flop. Now you know why he's an idiot. I got half of what I lost to him back to him 2 hands later with 2 black Aces again.
HAND 2:
I called. He had
[7s] for 2 pair on the flop.
HAND 3:
I raised the river. Should I have just called? He just called the bet and showed
[4h] for the boat. Very strangely played.
HAND 4:
I checked behind. His
[2c] wins.
HAND 5:
MP1 had
[9c] ???? He actually said that he meant to fold the turn, but was playing too many tables and checked the raise any box by mistake
HAND 6:
It got checked down.
BB
[8c] for top pair on Fp w/ backdoor straight draw + turned GSSD
UTG A9o - not worth mentioning
MP1 poster
[5c] - raised flop with a GSSD and bet bottom pair with GSSD on turn.
HAND 7:
I raised flop and he called. I bet turn and he called. River put backdoor heart flush on board. I checked and he showed
[2c]. My original read was good and I had him outkicked. Questionable check on river?
HAND 8:
I took a shot and followed through with the bet. Both folded.
