Well I went and played and it was fun and at times frustating. The table was a mix of young and old, but all were nice enough with no jerks. The standard preflop raise was $15 to $25. I bought with $300 and was rewarded on the 2nd hand. I am on the button and am delt As, 2c. I limp in for $5 with 4 others and the flop comes Ah, 2s, Ad. It checks around to me and I throw out $20 and get 1 caller. The turn brings a 3c and after it is checked to me I bet $40 and take the pot right there. Not a bad way to start out.

Here is one hand for discussion. I am delt 6s, 6c in middle postion. I raise it to $15 and get 1 caller. The flop is 5h, 7s, 10s. I lead out for $20 and get called. The turn brings a 3c. I decide to check and villan bets $40. What do you do?

I'll post some other hands later including the hand that after it was over, I needed to go outside and take a break.

I guess I should have added that this player was to my immediate left and has just sat down about 10 minutes prior, so I did not have a read on him as of yet.

Even more reason to fold it, you should only be making a call or a raise on that turn against a player whom you know to make semi-bluffs.

Dont raise anything to $15 in a 2/5 game. My guess is that you were raising more with KK or AK, right?

Yeah, the $15 raise on small PP is very common and really bad imo. You're thinning the field on a hand that hits rarely and loses deception value--and you allow a re-raise from AA/KK, which are the hands against which you'd love to call a simple raise.

Or, another scenario: I'm in LP with KQo. I fold to your raise PF probably. But if you call and the flop comes K96: You bet out, and I raise. You push, and I fold. But you've still won way more with lower risk.

Needless to say I layed down my 6's and he showed pocket 5's for a flopped set. I was seeing right away that a live game is totally different than online.
There was a young man at the table who liked to see a lot of flops. Well after he lost a big pot (arounf $150) he goes all in with his last $74. I look down at pocket 9's and figure him tilting a little and having A,K, or A,Q so I make the call and it is heads up between us. Well low and behold he also flips over pocket 9's. So now I think OK we'll split the pot, but noooo, he hits 4 cards to make his club flush and rejoices like he won the WSOP. His celebrating did not get to me as much asjust losing the hand in this way. I didn't say a word but went outside to take a break and calm my nerves. It didn't take him long to lose it all and go home for the day. I believe he ended up losing $600 in about 3 hrs.
