The one thing I just still can't understand is how almost every single player I see with a VP$IP over 50 constantly crushes the table. No matter when you stand up to them, they end up showing you a boat with J6o. I think I mentioned this in a thread in the NL section, but 2/3 of the players with 50% VP$IP or more in my database are winners. Since then I've gotten 3 more. All winners too!
I was up to $115 on a 50NL table today, the result of overplaying a set I think. I'll post that hand later. The table was full of TAGs and Rocks and I was running over it. All of a sudden, 2 players leave and down sit to 2 nuts. One 40/13/33 and the other 70/8/29. They beat the everliving hell out of me. They knew exactly when I had a hand and when to bet into me and when to raise me. I couldn't mess with them or they showed me a hand that had my pretty good hand beat every time. The 70/8/29 was doubled up to $100 by the time I left and I only had $66.50. How did that happen? I lost 10 hands in a row to the maniacs. Of course Mr 70% showed me KK once and then pot bet me 2x on this hand which I'm sure if I pushed my OESD + 2 overs, he woulda shown me a monster.
[Jh] CO
Jackass limps UTG
I raise to $2 and BB calls and he calls
[7c][Ts] Pot $6.25
BB checks, jackass bets $6.25, I call, BB folds
Pot $18.75
Jackass bets pot again, I fold
I can't remember ever beating a maniac for a big pot. Ever!
Anyway, here was the set I think I overplayed. I got called which I can't believe. I thought he was better than pocket 9's. But should I have pushed the flop? I can't think of many hands that I want to push out on this board. There are no real draws except gut-shots and the only hands that will call are sets or ready made straights from the donker. I thought CO had a big hand. I was wrong, but he still called. Thoughts?
Fairly new to the table. No reads. Only showdown so far was a PFR w/ K8s CO. I flopped a FD+OC and put the Button all-in for $10 on flop when he min-raised my c-bet. He had QJo for top pair, but I hit the flush on the turn.
All full stacks, I have them both covered.
UTG+2 limps, CO raises to $2.25, I call OTB ([3h][3c]), UTG+2 calls
[3d][2h] Pot $7.50
UTG+2 bets into raiser $5, CO raises to $15, me????
There's $27.50 in the pot now.
UTG+2 has $38.25 left. CO has $33.80
I'm fairly certain CO has an over-pair. I'm not worried about him. For some reason I didn't give UTG+2 a chance to stay in the hand when the worst he could have had was 55/44 drawing to a better set+GSSD. Unless he had a set or straight already in which case there is NO WAY he's folding.
Did I do the best thing and push there with $27.50 already in the pot or should I have let them both draw with no more than 8 outs combined at the most. Is there a real difference between min-raising to $30 there and pushing for $58? Is UTG+2 going to fold to one, but call the other?
Anyway......
CO called my push and showed
[9s] - Really? All he could beat was 77/88. Did he really think I'd push 77/88 vs a bet and a raise on the flop?
Pot $110.10
Yay me! Now I get to give it all away to the maniac.
