I played in a $10 blogger tournament last night (78 entrants). Most everyone there is a pretty good poker player.
I was the chipleader pretty much the whole way. When final table started I had 3x as many chips as the next person. I made some questionable plays earlier that turned out in my favor, so my image might not be the greatest. I haven't had to show down many hands, but the hands I have shown down have been decent.
First hand: Blinds 600/1200 ante 150. 7 people left. I have 35,500 and the chip lead, 2nd has 33000, 3rd is villain in this hand, who has 13500 (So he has an M of 4.7). Villain I think is pretty decent, and won this MTT last week
I'm on the button with
Villain is in MP and raises to 4800, a 4x BB raise and more than a third of his stack.
For some dumb reason, I just call. That's dumb, right? I should jam or fold, right?
Flop comes Pot is at 12450
He jams for 8535. That's 2.5:1 on my call. Should I call?
-----------------------------------------
Down to 4 people left. Blinds are at 800/1600 ante 200. Chip leader has 42500. I have 31500, and villain in this hand has 33500. Villain is a pretty good poker player. I have noticed that they are stealing a lot more the last couple orbits.
Villain is UTG, and I am on the button with
Villain limps. This is the first time I have seen her do this. This sends off warning bells in my head. A limp UTG, with the blinds so high (Both our M's were around 10), definitely can mean a big hand, right?
Anyways, I decide to raise here. I figure that if she re-raises, I can be easily fold AQ, and not feel too bad about that. SHould I maybe just fold AQ here?
I raise to 7500 (which is 4.5x BB). Blinds fold, and she calls.
Flop is with 18200 in it.
She checks. I have 24000 left.
What to do? Bet half my stack? Push? Check?
