I'm struggling with this for the last couple days.

The situation: I have a good, but not great hand, or the board is very drawy. I am in position, raise PF, get checked to after the flop, and they call my flop continuation bet.

I know it depends on the player and the board, but here are two examples.

I'm pretty sure i should fire a bet here. No real draws out there. But what to do if called and/or raised?

I like firing a bet in Hand 1 over Hand 2 just based on aggression factors. Hand 1 villain won't be giving you any more money if you check the turn and bet the river unless he has you beat, and Hand 2 villain will probably pay you off more on the turn.

I don't mind checking both hands though, that is usually how I would play them to induce some kind of bluff...but I doubt Hand 1 villain would bluff in that spot given stats.

I guess another reason to check Hand 2 is that there really wasn't any draws and he called you on the flop...controlling the pot with TPTK is pretty important to me, and I would like to see a showdown and not get CR'ed off the hand.

Good players will CR the turn on a draw, so that's another reason to check for pot control. I often check behind in these spots. Not hand 2 tho, that's a clear spot to fire a 2nd round.

Hand 1: I think there are good arguements for both betting and checking. I think it the deciding factor to me is what are the odds of getting CR. On this turn I dont want to play a big pot. Though this isnt a super draw heavy board unless he has a pair and a draw hand. BK double check the hand KQ didnt get counterfeit he still has a better 2 pair than you do. The only way he can think he got counterfeit is if he puts you on AA.

Hand 2: I am more likely to check behind here, there is almost no draw on the board. You only have 1 pair and a decent kicker. There are very few hands that have lots of outs against you. On a blank river you will induce a lot of bluffs. If he checks the river you almost always have the best hand.

I check behind on hand #2 and bet hand #1. I disagree with BK. very few people check raise the turn with draws after you raised preflop and bet the flop AND turn.

I check behind hand #2 sometimes to get more money out of a bad floater that will value bet his 98 or 66 on the river after I check the turn.

Hand #1 is too likely that the guy had QT or JT type hand and I dont want to give him a free card.
