I'm creating this thread to record results of the various HU battles that will be held among the BTP members. The winner has to post the results, and, if time permits, a short recap. Also, isince we're all trying to improve, try to indicate possible improvements for your opponent.

First match: Pok 7s vs Ojingo, $5 HU PLO sng on stars.
I happened to win this one, but it must be said that Pok has only 2 weeks of PLO experience.
He played well, but slowly lost ground as I had the better in a few medium sized pots. He made a good laydown with the second nut flush on the flop when I checkraised with the nut flush. Most of the play was straightforward without any triple barrel bluffs or sick moves.

However, I think Pok allowed me to take a rather risk-free approach by slowly chipping away at his stack. A bit more aggression please! Most of the time we'll both miss the flop and whoever bets first will pick up the pot.

Looking forward to the next one!

Yeah but in a cash game if you stack someone once or twice even if they buy in full you still have quite a bit of muscle. I understand like you mentioed someone can always reload and buy in full they're still going up against someone with a much bigger stack, can be kind of intimdating even in a cash game. No?

Maybe it's just me but I know I can tend to get kind of cautious against someone who is deep stacked either way, ring or tourney. Although admittedly tournies add additional pressure due to the blind increases. What would probably be the best for this excercise is if there was a site that offered HU freeze out matches.

Well the aim of this is to find weaknesses in your play or to see how others think you might improve, and if you start making odd moves just to throw us off then it will be hard to comment on your play.

I've just been going over the hands in Tracker here ... if I had to offer any advice to Ojingo I would say to tighten up a little bit more pre-flop. Nothing is ridiculous as my 22% from last night :) but some hands I think are going to prove to be long-term leaks. I think it's a suited ace thing ... I'd be more willing to drop those without good side cards ... the 2 starting hands I'm looking at specifically are Ac Jc 7d 5h, and the As Js 3c 3d. Certainly not the worst starting hands as both could hit a good flop ... but I've just started dropping stuff like that. Not a major leak but just something for consideration.

I'd say also the same for Pok ... Ad 6h 3c 2d UTG is the hand that I see ... I think to have good strength here you'd want to see prolly A65(3/4) .... although in a later position I could see it being playable.

Suited aces were a hard habit for me to break cause they do look so pretty preflop ... problem with 'em is that if you flop the flush, you don't get paid ... if you're on the flush draw ... you don't get paid when you hit ... basically it's just really hard to make anything off of flushes most of the time so I like to see another strong feature of the hand before I run with it.

Yeah normally I drop those hands, unless the table is much too tight (which it was), then I view them as investment.... but under normal game circumstances I will mostly muck those at 6 max (except maybe on the button every now and then).
