i bet $5. he raises to $20. he is loose/passive preflop (maybe like 40/15) and does stupid things like raising w/ top pair/decent kicker on the flop to "see where he stands."

how do we proceed from here?

You are 51% against AK (assume he doesn't have the ). The problem is that he is loose, so KT is in his range...maybe even K6s (not to mention better draws than yours, sets, etc). Unless I have seen him out of line a lot I probably just call and go from there. If the pot was raised I would shove, but 3-betting OOP here to say $60 leaves you in a tough spot on the turn if you are called and don't improve.

The other option is to shove now...which is hugely overkill and will fold out the hands you are flipping with and only get called by the bigger hands that have boat outs against you even if you hit the flush (or bigger draws like [Jc]). So I don't like that option.

You know full well youre going to fold 9 times out of 10 and rightly so.....which is exactly why I can / should raise to $20 sometimes with [4d] or [9s]. So when you say villian is a donk and will raise with TP decent kicker, youre downplaying what is actually a fairly good play against a guy in the blind as long as he slows down (or gives up) when called.

this by no means is a fold the implied odds are huge and you are 50/50 with one pair, if you hit the flush, trips could get tricky. If he is the type to limp AK or a decent K then this raise could mean one pair but if he limps small pairs you could be drawing to the flush only. It is read dependent but if he is a call station then your play is definitely a call, i don't like three betting an unraised pot without the nuts or close to it.
