could someone clarify why Hand 1 is such an easy shove?

If you're calling all-in, then it's probably about a 0 EV move. You're a slight dog overall to his range, but the money you've already put in the pot about makes up for it.

But because you're the one pushing, it's +EV, because he will NOT call every time. Every time he folds, you get to add, in this case, a total profit of $12.00 on this hand, or 1/4 of a stack. That's an outstanding result.

Think about it from the Villain's point of view. In a blind battle, he could very easily have KQ or KT, or even worse. Are you going to call for a full stack here with those hands?

Now, if you ONLY push with draws, your opponents will eventually figure that out and your folding equity will go down to zero. That's bad.
