10K hand check

Postby Pok 7's » Wed May 16, 2007 9:31 pm

Alright here's my first 10K hands of PLO. My numbers have come down a tad for thew simple fact that my last ew thousand hands or so I was more or less card dead. Up to about 7K hands or so my VPIP was right around 28-29 and PFR was 3. I erased the $ and BB so it wouldn't skew any possible thoughts.

I'm pretty sure I need to work on getting more aggressive though right? I'm not really sure about aggression in this game. I can mostly relate to LHE where I play a much more aggressive game than this. I'm sure I could've raised some more AAxx hands I picked up but I generally tend to raise them more in LP. So most of theones I picked up in a blind or UTG probably weren't raised all that much. Anyway, comments/discussion welcome.

You both guys plays very tight. I have more something like 40+ VP$IP and 7-8$ PF Raise and I am still satisfied with my results (sometthing about 15-20BB/100 hands).

But as we see (Your BB/100 hands are very impressing pokerzen) in Omaha postflop is much more important to make good results than preflop and there are many succesfull styles preflop.

So I made some categories of hands (AA,KK,..,22, High wraps, Middle wraps, low wraps, One gappers, A+ 3 wrap, Pair+3 wrap ...) to have a look which kind of hands bring me the money.

For me wraps sucks, pairs are nice, A+3 wrap suited to the ace are very nice and Pair+3 wrap are the nicest.

I play much more hands out of the SB (I think it is with 77% a little bit to high and I must work to lay down more often, espescially in higher limits) but I still won 0,06 BB/hand in this position. But I also think 36-37% VP$IP from the SB is a little bit too less.

@ Pok7's: I would fold a little bit less in SB and BB to a steal attemp (My att. to steal attemp is more than twice of yours but I think it is a little bit to high). If you hit the flop you will get paid of in this limits very often (These guys going all in or calling a check raise allday long with naked Aces or Kings at the flop) and the 3 times you not hit will more than paid of the one time you hit the flop.

pok7... pf is fine for the "T" of 6-max TAG play... you might want to think about your "AG". i'd want to bump that up quite a bit (for potential fold equity) unless you're playing in super-aggressive blufftard games (somehow i feel that this is not the case) or massive calling station games (likely) . as you move up, more frequently you'll need to adjust your aggression based on who is in the hand with you.

pokerzen... i'd say pretty much the same for you, except that your numbers are probably closer to some theoretical low-limit "sweet spot" given that you play fr.

bumping up your vpip as don suggest is perfectly viable for a slag or lag style, but you will completely need to change your game if you want to do that profitably.

PZ nice run you have going there. Seriously if you can stay around there, I don't know why you'd even consider moving up. You can make some decent $ every month with minimal risk..... I thought you only played 6 max though?

Kuso, yeah the games I'm playing aren't all that aggressive at all, they're mostly tables full of calling stations. Usually people gettine overly aggressive post flop means (depending on the player type), they have the current nuts, set, or NFD. Mixed in with people who will stack off with AAxx or even KKxx with nothing else going for them, middle/bottom set, etc. Most of the tables have VPIP's in the high 70's-80% range so there's a lot of multi-handed pots usually and not a while lot of PF raising. I've never really plyaed much of a SLAG or LAG game, even in LHE so I'm really not even familiar with how to adapt that style.

Don I'll have to pay a little more attention to the SB and BB play as well.... I realize PLO is a rather positional game, so my general thoughts so far have been "why get into battles here OOP with garbage".

Like I said my last 2-3K hands have been a pretty shitty run so that probably isn't too helpfull to my stats either. I'm not running anywhere near as good as PZ, but up untill my last 3K hands or so I was running at a BB/100 of 10 but ATM it's right around 9. I'm thinking i could probably bump that up a bit if I took some more shots at oprphan pots along the way, but that occasionally requires 2 barreling fairly often since pots can easily be 4-6 handed post flop and it's rare to get almost a whole table to dump a hand.

I'm going to start railing some of the $25 tables on Stars for a bit and then incorporate a table or 2 while I'm playing this level. I always have been a little too slow to move up..even in LHE.
