Hero to Zero
I was playing some great poker over the last few sessions... an example:
[5s]
I rap in the BB.
FLOP $30
[4s][6h]
SB checks. I bet $25. UTG calls. UTG is a solid TAG. Folds around to SB who calls.
TURN$75
[4s][6h]
Checks around.
RIVER$75
[4s][6h]
SB checks. I bet $50. UTG raises to $150. SB folds. I fold and UTG shows 44 for the boat.
I rock.
Fast forward to tonight where I lost $800. I couldn't catch a hand for my life. I was bored out of my mind. To make matters worse, every time I raised I would get reraised. Every time I tried to make a play they were drawing and hit the river. The shit was unbelievable. Still I should have lost $200-$400 less but I couldn't control my emotions. My blood pressure was rising so much it gave me a headache. I tried a drink to get the edge off but that didn't work either. I suppose my major mistake was not leaving an hour or two earlier. But who wants to leave a good game on Memorial Day Weekend in Vegas?
My last hand of the night I raise
[Td] close to the Button. Only the BB calls. He plays well but he's pretty easy to read.
FLOP$40
[Tc][4h]
He checks. I bet $30. He calls.
TURN $100
[Tc][4h]
He checks. I bet $45 he calls.
RIVER$200
[Tc][4h]
He bets $100. I wasn't entirely sure he had it until I said something funny and he smiled a genuine broad smile. I was 100% sure he had me beat. I stuck the money in anyway because I was tilting. I wanted to show my bad luck to the table and just get up and leave. So I wasted $100.
He showed
[Qs]. Beautiful hand and the river card actually helped me save some
money. I'm quite sure he was going for the river check raise till the 4 to the straight came.
On a better note, one of the regulars I sat next to yesterday, told me how awesome my play was with the KQ hand from last week (I posted it earlier. I basically pushed all in for $1k with TPGK on a flush board and won.) If random regulars can remember the hands I play, I must be garnering some respect in the poker room.
I have to make sure I get my emotions in check for the rest of the weekend. Normally I might take a day off after that last tilty session, but I want to play through Monday given the holiday weekend. I wonder if busy seasons really aren't for me. Playing less hands because of the scores of fish leaves me unsatisfied. I can't play "poker." I have to sit back and wait for hands that hardly show up. That annoys me and bores me to tears..
