Update:

The first time I tried polyphasic sleep I failed after about 2 days. I slept straight through one cycle and about 5 alarms, which threw everything off whack. I think I'm going to try again tomorrow, as after tonight (live poker) I have no plans for the following 5 or so days which should be enough to adjust to the cycle.

I have been playing a lot more poker lately and running very average. I don't have exact figures but I would estimate that I'm up about $6k in May. I'm not thrilled or disappointed really, it was a very meh month pokerwise.

I will be heading to the US for sure on July 6th at the latest. I'm going to try and see if I can come earlier for two things. One is I want to go to TS with Xas and Hard on June 10th, but it may be hard to get over there that soon considering it's in like 10 days from now. The other is for July 5th in Vegas there is apparently some huge party for all Aus poker players over there which sounds like a lot of fun.

I'm getting a one-way ticket so I have no idea when I'll be back to Aus. I'm planning on hanging around for at least a few months in the US being based in San Diego for the most part.

Anyway, I'm planning on playing a tonne of poker between now and the time I leave so I'll post some more regular updates in here with how I'm going.

HOLY HELL TODAY WAS RIDICULOUS.

I'm playing 1/2 at Stars again as I've withdrawn funds from iPoker due to my upcoming US trip and them not allowing me to play there . I also withdrew $5k to have some money in my bank account.

Anyway, today was insane. This graph and one word basically sum it up:

Around hand 5500 is where today starts. Le sigh.

Work on those bad starts...analyze whether you're playing differently in the beginning. A few months ago I noticed that I often started down -3x or so only to come back to +3 pretty consistently...I noticed that I played differently in the beginning, so I changed that and things got better...just something to check for.

The bad starts are just variance really, I'm playing my same game the whole way through (for the most part). If anything I'm playing better at the start due to being most alert and not tired or having had experienced any beats.

I've been experimenting with playing a more tight game preflop yet much, much looser postflop. I seem to be getting a tonne of undeserved respect against the regulars. I think this is partly due to the fact people will look at my PAHUD stats and be like "he's 19/14, lol nit aint bluffing, i'll fold". It's kind of the exact opposite of people playing lots of hands to get paid off when they have a big hand.

Hand 4: I don't like your line very much...it's not a very draw heavy board...and he cmr'd you after you 3 bet which shows tremendous strength. I think you misplayed that one.

Just booked another very nice session. That makes back to back +8 buyin sessions which is pretty pleasing.

I had a 'first time' poker thing happen to me today when I stacked the same person in back to back to back hands. Admittedly two of the hands were very thin and I got lucky to win all 3 but that doesn't take away at all from how good it feels. The villain is supposedly the best 1/2nl regular on stars.

I'm up about $4k for the month now (not including live poker which would bump it to about $1k - I had a good night on Friday LOLCHINESEPOKERAMENTS).

If I can play as many hands per day for the rest of the month as I've been playing so far I'll be happy.
