Yeah, but Americans are stupid.
Funny hand from last night: We're playing the $20 rebuy tourny and Matt and I are clashing heads like crazy. He'd be the 2nd or 3rd best player there (he can play really well or kinda spewy). Anyway it was a limped pot preflop, 5 or 6 ways. We each have about $5k chips and the blinds are 25/50. The flop comes down
or something and it get checked around. The turn is the
and it gets checked to him in LP and he bets 50. Folds to me in EP and raise to 100. He calls. River is the
I think and I open-shove for about 5k into the 400 chip pot. I had like
. He thinks for about 5 seconds and calls. I'm about to muck but turn my hand over anyway, just to show what a stupid/awesome move I pulled bluffing 16x the pot. He says "we chop". LOL, he had
. Quite possibly one of the most sick calldowns I've seen.
I took about $1k off him in the cash game though. First hand we were playing 2-7 TD and I get dealt a 23467 in the CO. I'm about $500 deep and he covers. I pot to $7 and get 3 callers (we were playing 4-handed). Everyone draws x and I stay pat. Checks to me and I bet pot again $28, BTN (decent player) and Matt in the sb both call. They both draw 1 as I stand pat. Matt checks to me and I pot it again, $112. BTN hemms and haws forever and finally finally folds. Matt does the same forever and ever and makes the call. He stands pat and I do too obv. He thinks for a bit and checks to me, I double check my hand and bet pot, $336. He thinks for ages and ages, is on the verge of folding, but finally makes the call. He had 23567. At this point the BTN has looked at the top card of the deck (what he would've got had he played) and has gone on a rampage kicking chairs and what not as he would've hit the nuts.
Other big pot of the night was in stud 8b. This is the very last hand of the night and I get dealt
. The hand went down and by 6th street I had
. Matt has 8TKKr showing (so I'm thinking weee free monies). He pots INTO me on 6th and I felt it possible he had a boat but obv no way that I'm folding. I call (we had like $250 behind after that bet) and hit the
on the river. He checks, I shove, he calls. Not exactly sure what he had but he couldn't beat my flush. Seriously though how fucking huge was my hand on 6th street. If I bricked out... I may have murdered GTU.
Oh I also made a bit playing chinese right at the start of the night when I hit a huge hand.
It was layed out like this
We were playing with a bonus rule in that if you managed to get trips up top you get 10 bonus points from each. I scooped them both and got the bonus to make 28 points all up in that hand.
I'm gonna go shower, eat breakfast, work out, then put in a monster session. I'm feeling real good about my game and am in a great state of mind so I see no reason that I won't play my A game.
Poker is silly.
It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.
Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.
