Lol. That reminds me of the first time that I was down in Melbourne. I actually did tip a waiter with a $100 chip for a $6 drink and said keep the change (I thought I gave him two $5 chips or something). But I digress.
Last night I played in my usual live cash game. I didn't take the tourney seriously and sat in a $50 (0.25/0.50) cash game afterwards which I didn't take too seriously but still racked up a $200 stack or so. I lost it all in one hand to Nauv who had position on me in a 2-7 TD hand. It was pot-limit and we got all in, my 9-low to his 8-low. Kinda boring hand, I do think I misplayed it but w/e.
I built my stack up to about $200 again and the sickest/funniest/most stupid things happened on the last hand of the session. The game is 7 card stud hi/lo no qualifier (pot limit) and we agreed that since it was the last hand, we would all ante $3 (this is a .25/.50 game still) yet not allow any bets, raises or bring in on 3rd street (effectively making 4th street the first street with betting). I get dealt
and lead for half-pot or so, Nauv who is showing
or something repots. Folds to me and I re-pot and he says "okay it's all going in". He turns over
in the hole and says "you got trips?" Sure do. He seems to think he's still going to get the low. 5th street brings a
for him and
for me. 6th street brings a
for him and
for me.
So before the river is dealt, our hands look like this:
Mine -
Nauv's -
I'm in pretty good shape to scoop, right?
River for him is the
. He can't win the high and has QJ98A for low.
River for me is the
for me. SHIP IT FUCKING QUADS BABY!!!!!!!! ....... oh ****!!!!!! My best low is now a pair. /me killself.
We then played that neutral EV game I spoke of last week which was basically dealing out random holdem hands. I made a lot here. At about 2am we decided to go sit back in the 0.25/0.50 cash game which, at the time, had about $150 on the table. Matt had joined us by now and we all bought in for $50. About 20 minutes into it I had gone through $200 and asked if I could buy in for a full $200 since stacks were getting deep, this was allowed. The table looked something like this (left to right): Me, donk 1, donk 2, Matt, Nauv, shortstack, back to me. After about 20 minutes the shortstack and donks were stacked and it was just the three of us playing. We decided to up it to 1/2 and this is where it got good. We were playing razz and I got all in for about $200 vs Nauv when I had 8755A and he had K643A or something. Basically he had me owned. He bricked, bricked and I hit a deuce or something to scoopy scoop. A couple of hands later we're playing 2-7 TD and I get dealt 2347x on the button. I raise (I'm raising any 2 here and have been every time) and they both call. Nauv draws 2, Matt draws 3 and I draw a 5 to the nuts. Checked to me and I bet pot, Nauv check-raises pot and i shove, he calls and stands pat. I stand obv. He ends up drawing 2 on the final draw and I stay pat then law down my hand to scoop.
Matt and I played a couple more hands of 2-7 where I won about $50, finally cashing out ~$800. Sweet.
We then played chinese @ $10 a point for about an hour where I proceeded to win $1k.
We then played that neutral EV game for an hour or so and I was up about $500 but then Nauv decided that since he was down close to $2k for the day and had to leave in 10 minutes (he is a dentist and was going straight to work after a night of gambling w/o sleep.. degenerate anyone?!) so he decided that we should double the stakes. That means $40 each per hand, $40 if we hit a prop card on the board, $100 if it came on the river, and $100 if we made a full house or better. He fucking slaughtered us to the tune of about $1.1k in 10 hands. That bastard. He wanted to up it to triple stakes after the first 5 hands but thankfuckinggod we declined.
All in all I left up about $1.5k which was pretty sweet for a night of mostly neutral-ev games.
Today I tried to play a bit online but didn't really feel up to it. I'm gonna watch a couple of cardrunners vids then see how I feel. There's the supernova freeroll on tonight which I'll play in and then maybe some stud8 again.
Poker is silly.
It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.
Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.
