I think I was REALLY lucky to get into the Prima tournament that had such a HUGE overlay.
It was $100 to buyin, with 1 $100 re-buy until the end of the first hour and 1 $100 add-on. There were 380 people, so the starting pot was $38,000. I saw almost everybody at my table re-buy right away so they had more ammo to go with, I followed suit. I figure this probably was happening at most tables, so a conservative estimate to re-buys would be about 250, total pool right now $63,000. I don't think many people would have added on. It was to the point after one hour that an extra 1500 in chips wouldn't get you far. Let's exaggerate that figure and say that 100 people added on for a total prize pool of $73,000. Now each WSOP was worth $13,500 and they were giving packages to the Top 7, yes thats SEVEN. Tally that up and the total pool they were giving away is $94,500.
I think Prima would probably be the cheapest way. Enter the $10 qualifiers, 1 in 10 make the finals, that should not be hard to make. Just win a decent pot and hang on until you make it. Then at a cost of your original 10 bucks and assuming a rebuy of 100, you do have a good chance to make the WSOP for only 110. Mind you they did adjust the structure and they are only sending the top 3 now. But they would obviously add more packages if the prize pool warrants it.
