I worked out some numbers and I agree that pushing preflop is +EV as long villan is making a move approximately 66% of the time and will have a premium calling hand the other 33% (AA-JJ, AK).
However, on a RESTEAL, calling the reraise instead of pushing preflop should have some value as well against specific opponents:
- AJs will hit some kind of hand approximately 40% of the time includng all pairs, flush draws, etc.
- Holding AJs instead of 78s, it is less likely that villan has a premium hand (25% less likely based on hand combinations)
- You have position for the remainder of the hand
- Against Aggressive Villans who make a CB 100% of the time, we are calling $54 preflop to win over $225.
- Against Passive opponents who don't make CBs, you can take the pot away from them.
- Calling with other hands other than pairs with implied odds disguises your hand ranges more
