How do I play this hand so that this does not happen in the future.

I watched this guy previously bet a 3/4 size pot bet on the river with AK after he PFR'ed and Cbet the flop, and checked the turn. Other player called with bottom pair and won.

I watched him raise from EP with K8 and win the pot when he flopped two pair...

I know that this can happen to anyone, flopping a set, but he seemed to be a bit of a donkey and I think that I was way ahead of his range of hands when I pushed...
