Quick check up on a fairly standard hand here. I'm running bad (worse than I ever have) so I have to make sure my play is not going to hell. No reads.

UTG calls, Button calls, SB folds, SB folds, Hero raises to $12, UTG calls, Button folds.

Flop: ($27, 2 players)
Hero bets $22, UTG calls.

Turn: ($71, 2 players)
Hero checks, UTG checks.

I figure I'm not getting a lot of action here unless I'm beat (2 pr/set, also 89 got there) so I check. I plan to call a reasonable bet here (since many will autobet the turn when checked to) and evaluate river, but he checks behind.

River: ($71, 2 players)

Villain checked turn so I think I am ahead here. However, I check???? Villain now bets $70 and I call. In retrospect I think I prefer a bet on the river since A-rag will call me here hoping to split.

My main question is regarding the turn. I foresee problems (in other hands like this)when I check the turn and he bets, then I check the river and he bets again. Does our turn call slow him down enough so we can safely fold the river? Or do we prevent this by bet/folding the turn? But then what is our plan on the river if he calls? 3-barrelling at this board seems over-aggro and spewy to me.

What is your 'optimal' line?

My standard line would be to check/call turn and check/fold river unimproved.

I really don't see an UTG floating you with air here and bluffing turn + river.

I like the turn check, I also lead the river for $50-$60 planning to fold to a raise.
I like checking rivers to induce a bluff from a missed draw normally, but that J is a really crappy card since it completes alot of str8 draws, I don't think he has a busted draw here. He might be slowplaying a str8 which is why I like the B/F line, I'm also slightly worried about AJ/AT kind of hands.

If I know villain is decent I could fold river, against an unknown I'd call though.

I think the turn is closer to a check-fold than a check-call.

This is a horrible flop for anybody to be floating us on. Our raising range out of the SB basically smashes this flop and by CBing we're showing a great deal of strength. I would say UTG's most likely hands are Ax and sometimes KQ/KJ/QJ/KT/QT/JT. When we check, he will check with Ax where x < T and KJ/QJ/KT/QT almost all of the time. He wants to get to showdown, wants to take a free card, and has no real reason to bet because in his mind there is no way we're folding if we have an ace anyway. Therefore when he bets, he usually has at least AQ, but usually much better.

Well, like I said, I prefer to bet the river. However, this time it worked out best for me.

As strange as it may sound, I think this is SITE specific.

At FTP, I'm way more likley to check the river to him because they are so agro that they will bet even a 2nd pair there if you've checked anywhere in the hand and surely twice.

At say Prima, I'm leading the river for sure adn folding to a raise.
