Forgive me for the n00bness of my question, as I'm pretty sure the answer is "raise sometimes/call sometimes," but I've literally almost never been in this spot so I wanna make sure. SB has $40 and BB has $100.

1. I raise [Qs] to $3.50 from UTG, SB calls, BB calls.

2. Flop [Qh][7s], pot $10. SB leads $10, BB calls, Hero does what?

I think the key to this situation is in the "stack sizes". This is an absolutley perfect opportunity due to the SB being short. If you raise to $30, the SB is in a push or fold situation and being short and the size of the pot he is commited. So he will either push or fold with the most likley being push. After he pushes (and re-opens betting) the UTG will have to call the extra $10 or fold. If he just calls you get to puh in on top of him.Thus trapping him in the middle. You may even get him to call that as well as he will be getting 4-1 on his call. He will have to call $70 to win $280.

Note: I took the meaning of the SB having $40 and the UTG $100 at the time of your bet. Not before the hand started. Therefore, the SB started w/ $54 and UTG $114 and you have them both covered.

Flat call, you don't need to announce your hand and the pot will bloat itself the longer you can keep both players interested.

When you flat call and one of them hits a gutshot, youre gonna kill yourself..just raise and let the fishies chase their garbage

I just pound away with my strong hands in most cases. Raise to $30.

Raise to the maximum amount that lets you overpush if the SB pushes over your raise, in case UTG calls the SB's push.

Ive just reread TOP as the man says you want to win the big pot right away. pots at 40bb already. Id put it in its likely one of them at least will call any way.

When you have a monster and there is a good chance that your opponents have a good piece of the flop I think you have to raise.

You raise because they'll call since they have a piece and they're not ready to fold yet.

You raise to charge them if they have some draw as their piece of the flop.

You raise because it's going to be harder to get money into the pot later on unless you are beat.

You raise because on the turn you might get a guy all in with just a draw or two pair because he called your flop raise and now feel committed, etc.
