Playing strong draws OOP against CSs is the bane of my life at the moment. I like this if you've got FE, but here I'm not so sure.

Hmm I don't know if I like like 2nd barrelling on the turn. He called a PFR - you rep AK and he calls again - you are behind now to anyhting excpet QJ so why bet out into a passive (calling station) type player?

If you had notes like 'likes to float flop, will fold to 2 barrel' then it's ok of course. But without reads he has shown a lot of strength and that board is horrible man and you have nothing.

And a passive player is the best one to check to as he won't auto-bet.

If he isn't so passive you can check to him safely then I think I would lead a bit less on the flop and follow it up with another 1/2 pot blocking bet on the turn.

As for check calling the river I guess you are getting decent odds to call but it's a pretty meh situation to find yourself in - maybe 'don't build pots OOP with draws vs calling stations' should be on your fridge door?

I quite like the check raise on the flop instead to be honest. I he checks behind you got a free card andthe info that he has nothing or is on a draw. If he calls a big CR then you know you can shut down unless the flush hits.

Checking the flop is horrible.

Flop bet and turn second barrel are standard. He called your flop bet on an insanely drawy board with another player yet to act, so his range is WAY weighted towards draws. He has two pair or a set here like never, and your turn bet is gonna fold out KQ and KJ almost always.

Also AJ beats draws so you're value betting even when the river comes blank against this passive dude.

River is a fold I don't think you're almost ever good here.
The better player should win the race. Always.

"#3 pencils and quadrille pads."

"Interesting - I use a Mac to help me design the next Cray."

OK this guy is a passive CS. He has called a PFR.

He might be on made hand, draw or air.

He is going to be very hard to push off a draw or made hand and you won't necessarily know which. He has position on you.

Any bet will get him to fold air. But then again giving a free card to someone with air isn't really an issue.

If you really want to push him off non-air you will need either a big raise or a push (which is better on the flop as you have 2 cards to come).

BB is also still in on the flop and he called the PFR too.

It seems very unlikely that you are ahead here. You do however have a nice draw to the nuts. In real life I would bet out 2/3 pot like you.

On reflection though, I think that is a mistake and that I prefer a check - best case I flop my flush and someone else has a weaker flush and I stack them. If Mr. Passive bets then we see if BB is sandbagging and assuming that BB folds you can put Mr. P on a made hand > a draw. Whether you try to take him off it with a raise, call for the flush with implied odds or fold is then up to you but at least you have more info.

I just don't see the benefit of trying to bluff a CS OOP with a les than pot sized bet when you have a draw to the nuts - if you are going to bluff then I think it's better to be doing it strongly so you can get him to fold better hands.

I don't buy the betting for value argument - not on that flop with 2 callers of a PFR. You decide to blow them away on the flop repping a big set or at least AK or take a free/cheap look at the flush draw. I think getting stuck in the middle with consecutive 3/4 pot bets OOP vs a CS is the worst option.

I'm not sure that a blocking bet really achieves much but it might be worthwhile just in case they both somehow managed to miss or would call rather than raise a made hand.

I don't 2nd barrel a passive CS here on the turn - that's just looks like spewage to me - he has called 2 bets and the 8 is a blank unless he has Q9 or 88 - if he called pre-flop and on the flop, he is just calling again. If I can get a cheap/free turnj I take it instead.
