I prob should have folded the riv but my gut was tellin me he was on a fd i was tryin to give him a chance to bluff at the pot but what do u guys think? Could/should i have changed my betting on any streets to get him off this?

Push river instead of check calling.

Bet pot size on the flop, bet closer to pot on the turn.

You don't want him off this. You want him to call, but you want to bet bigger than you did.

In general, if the question is "Can I push a player at $5 NL off of any decent hand or decent draw?" the answer is no. Always no. Don't even try. Just bet full pot with your made hands, every single time. They'll call, that's what they do.

You can NEVER push anybody off a hand at $5NL. I would have bet more on the turn, then bet the river as well. You are gonna have to call anyway and he will call with more hands than he bets with.

Having played at 1c/2c just recently, bet pot with a hand ALWAYS. They will call with a gutshot, with Ace high, with 6 high, with a set, with AA, they usually just call. They are not capable of thinking. Most of the time you're ahead, when you lose, just reload, it happens.

Try not to bluff too much, they just call. Follow the rule, KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID. When you move up to 5c/10c you can start thinking about more adv. play.

so if i'm understanding this right with my on this drawy board i should be potting the the flop, potting the turn, and my line on riv is fine? Again the only reason i check called the riv was to get value from the hands i beat (or let him bluff a missed draw).. i'm not ever really folding this on the riv right esp at this level?

the villian had a pretty big draw here, no way is he or should he get away from it here, especially on the flop. He might fold if you shove the turn but unlikely, he has a pair, gut shot and a flush draw he had 15 outs against you, he might have thought he had 18.

I wouldn't worry about this hand, just bet more because they often have alot weaker hands and they'll pay more to draw.
