Stars $100K
Played in my 2nd Stars MTT this afternoon. The $11 buyin $100K. While the money might be incredible for such a low buyin, this has got to be one of the worst structured tournaments I've ever played in.

About 1/2 hour in I triple up and wind up the table chip leader with an M of about 30. A card dead half hour later, my M is under 5. The average tournament stack is around 5.

17K+ in the field. We lose a little over 7K in the first hour, then lose close to 8 of the remaining 10K participants in the 2nd hour. WTF??? I really have no idea of what the proper strategy for a tournament like this should be.

Cash session
I spent about 29 minutes (70 hands @ 3 tables) playing and then another 1/2 hour on the phone with Verizon again. "Uhm.....well.......we closed the support ticket because it was working when we tested the line so it must be fixed." Meanwhile, it's taken 4 dumps on me in the past hour alone. It's useless to me the way it is now.

Screw Iraq, Iran, I-whatever, bomb VERIZON!

Professor Suckout imparts some words of genius

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t300 (9 handed) from (Format: FlopTurnRiver Cards)

saw flop|saw showdown

MP3 (t3095)
CO (t5273)
Button (t10495)
SB (t3695)
BB (t3735)
UTG (t5175)
UTG+1 (t9201)
MPA (t6725) [As][Ac]
MP2 (t6269)

Preflop:
1 fold, UTG+1 calls t300, MPA raises to t1500, 6 folds, UTG+1 calls t1200.

Flop: (t3200) Image, Image, Image (2 players)
UTG+1 checks, MPA bets t2100, UTG+1 raises to t7676, MPA calls t3100 (All-In).

Turn: (t16076) Image (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: (t16076) Image (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t13600

Results in white below:
UTG+1 has Jc Tc (two pair, jacks and tens).
MPA has As Ac (one pair, aces).
Outcome: UTG+1 wins t16076.

Afterward:
Professor Suckout "Never go all-in with Aces."
WTF??? Fuckin idiot calls a large raise and then gets it in as a 2-1 dog and he's a genius because he sucked out? How about "Never call a off about 20% of opponents stack preflop with JTs. Cause there's a good chance the guy playing 12/10 might not be bluffing?"
There's sucking out, and then there's sucking out and acting like a dickhead......unless he was really that stupid, which is a distinct possibility. I think if he had said that in a real card room, I might have to be physically escorted out.

Bah.....2 hours and a bubblish(?) finish - 275 out of 1394 (paid 180) - confident I woulda went deep if

DSL connection has been ok today so I've tried to take advantage of it while it lasts.....or rather it tries to take advantage of me. (Of course as soon as I type this, DSL takes 3 dumps.)

That was the MTT. The cash games didn't go well either. The positive is that I didn't tilt and basically broke even. Several very aggressive 50% VP$IPers on both tables. They just kept betting into me/raising when I missed, which was just about everytime. Flopped only my 2nd set in 38 tries so far (both with 66 which happens to be my favorite hand), but the turn and river were terrible. Let's see if the converter works for cash games too:

Hand 1: Eh....what am I gonna do, fold for $3 more?
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (7 handed) from (Format: FlopTurnRiver Cards)

saw flop|saw showdown

CO ($21.25)
Button ($17.50)
Hero ($35.70)
BB ($6.05)
UTG ($5)
MP1 ($14.65)
MP2 ($14.80)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Image, Image.
UTG calls $0.25, 4 folds, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($0.75) Image, Image, Image (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG checks.

Turn: ($0.75) Image (3 players)
Hero bets $0.75, BB calls $0.75, UTG folds.

River: ($2.25) Image (2 players)
Hero bets $2, BB raises to $5.05, Hero calls $3.05.

Final Pot: $12.35

Results in white below:
Hero has 5c 6c (two pair, sixes and fives).
BB has 7d 8s (straight, nine high).
Outcome: BB wins $12.35.

Hand 2: Opp is 56/22 w/ 34 WTSD, fairly aggressive. How do you fold a staight here?
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (8 handed) from (Format: FlopTurnRiver Cards)

saw flop|saw showdown

BB ($22.15)
UTG ($17.25)
Hero ($30.60)
MP1 ($11.50)
MP2 ($3.50)
CO ($14.30)
Button ($24.65)
SB ($15.25)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with Image, Image.
1 fold, Hero calls $0.25, 1 fold, MP2 calls $0.25, CO calls $0.25, 2 folds, BB checks.

Flop: ($1.10) Image, Image, Image (4 players)
BB bets $0.75, Hero calls $0.75, MP2 calls $0.75, CO folds.

Turn: ($3.35) Image (3 players)
BB bets $3, Hero calls $3, MP2 folds.

River: ($9.35) Image (2 players)
BB bets $5, Hero calls $5.

Final Pot: $19.35

Results in white below:
BB has Jd 7h (straight, jack high).
Hero has 9c 7c (straight, ten high).
Outcome: BB wins $19.35.

Hand 3: This one was frustrating. Both of these guys had been raising me all session. Now one of them has top 2 and we don't get it all-in on the flop? Then WTF do I do when the flush card hits and an even more disgusting river?
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (9 handed) from (Format: FlopTurnRiver Cards)

saw flop|saw showdown

MP2 ($30.20)
MP3 ($21)
CO ($25.75)
Button ($28) 32/9 27 WTSD and aggressive
SB ($94.50) 61/19 30 WTSD and aggressive
BB ($26.30)
UTG ($21.20)
UTG+1 ($25)
Hero ($26.30)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with Image, Image.
UTG raises to $0.75, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.75, 3 folds, Button calls $0.75, SB calls $0.65, 1 fold.

Flop: ($3.25) Image, Image, Image (4 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $3, Button calls $3, SB calls $3, UTG folds.

Turn: ($12.25) Image (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, Button checks.

River: ($12.25) Image (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, Button checks.

Final Pot: $12.25

Results in white below:
SB has Ks 8s (one pair, kings).
Hero has 6c 6d (three of a kind, sixes).
Button has Kd Qc (two pair, kings and queens).
Outcome: Hero wins $12.25.

Despite, still running +11.71 BB/100 over first 741 Stars hands. Just wait until I start catching actual hands. Unfortunately the sessions will probably remain short until some kind of resolution is reached with Verizon.

Broke first piece of furniture ever tonight. 6 MTT's. 3 bubbles and 1 small cash. Succumbed to stupidity on the last one. Satellite just 3 places from the money. I have a decent stack and might be able to fold my way in, but I'm definitely taking advantage of the BB sitting out when I'm dealt ATo in CO and it's folded to me. I raise. SB, who has NO business playing at this point and getting stacked by me would put him in a bad position, calls. I've been playing rock-tight the past few rounds.

Flop is 789 giving me OESD. River is a Jack, giving me the straight. Only one hand beats me and this idiot was actually stupid enough to play QTo for a raise in this spot. GG.

Here's the other WTF was he thinking hand on fhe night. My first hand at the table. I have never played with this person before.
Blinds are 100/200 and we are 6 handed
I'm MP and open for 600 w/ [Ah][Td] (1,745 behind)
CO calls, has me covered

[4h][6s][2d] Pot 1500
I push for 1745.
CO insta-calls with...........[Ac][Tc]  WTF is going on here?
What was he beating? K-hi? A7-A9?

Yeah I bubbled this one too. Finished 7th, paid 5.

If anyone can figure out the logic of either one of those moves (playing QTo for a raise when you can fold into a satellite seat or calling a flop push without a pair or a draw vs someone you've never played a hand against) please clue me in.
