Live 8-16 game. Villian is a good player. My image is also good.

I have in the SB.
There are two limpers, I raise out of the SB, BB folds, 1st limper folds, and villian calls.

Flop (headsup):


I bet, villian calls.

Turn:


I bet, villian raises.

So this villian is capable of raising here with a straight draw, a flush draw, a 7, an 8 or mayyyyyybe a hand like AQ. Now don't get me wrong - he probably has a 7 or 8, but I am saying this is not some rock that would never raise here without a made hand.

The usual line of thought here is to either fold or call down right now. It never really occurred to me in the past to call and then fold the river UI to a bet.

But my image is good and the villian is good, so that is eactly what I did. I was thinking at the time I was making the turn call that villian knows not to waste another bet with a busted draw if I call the turn since he will correctly put me on an overpair and knows that I won't fold to a river bet after calling the turn.

Faulty logic or reasonable line? I have to admit I've never really played this situation like this before. I have mixed feelings.

Problem is that it can be a good semibluff from the villian. There's 2 FD's out there and a the str8 draw too. I've occasionally raised in these spots too but again it's pretty read dpeendant and could wind up costing you more than needed against some players. But if you take a 3 bet fold/fold to cap line it might not be a bad idea.

But like Ant said this is real read dependant, if you think he could be semibliffing a draw here because he knows you're capapble of laying down a hand we can c/c the river although I would like to see a somewhat safe card hit.
