Postby Zuccala » Tue Nov 06, 2007 5:57 am

Stacks:

Hero: $180 (CO)

Villan:$280 (MP2)

Reads:

Nothing yet as this is my 15th hand at the table. I have not seen him get out of line yet. He has raised 3x so far though.

Hand:

All fold to villan who raises $3.50, I call with [5c][6c] and BB calls

flop: [Ad][6d][5s] $11 (3 Players)

BB checks, Villan bets $10, I raise $30, BB folds, villan calls

turn: [5d] $71 ( 2 Players)

Villan checks, I bet $35, Villlan folds.

Analysis:

When he called my flop raise I put him on someting like AJ+ with a strong likleyhood of AK-AQ. The turn came and completed a FD and I bet 1/2 pot was this a mistake? Should I have checked thru when the FD hit and hoped he hit his kicker on the river or maybe another diamond if he had the [Kd] or [Qd] . I thought that a 1/2 pot bet was cheap enough to get a call from a re-draw. Thoughts?

I think ur flop raise could have been a little bigger, hes getting 2.5:1 as is if he has a flush draw, that was a really scary card for him though on the turn and he isn't calling anything u would think so I prob would have checked behind hoping he could catch up on his kicker or give him a chance to bluff the river...............and then the case A would probably fall and kill ur hand lol

with a better read a check behind on the turn is fine and then you can VB the river. i think i take that line vs. unknowns 60% of the time and the line you took 40%. most cake players will check/call with a flush here anyway so...

in this situation it looks like he's good enough to fold TP with a FD on a paired board

As deep as you are you have to bet this turn. If he has A [Kd] A [Qd], he is going to call your 1/2 pot bet. The turn check might get a small bet called on the river by an ace but it keeps you from getting his stack if he has a flush, it keeps you from getting a large amount if he hits a big one card flush on the river and it allows him to draw to the two aces in the deck for free. You played the hand fine it was just an action killer on the turn.

Rhound, that what I thought. If he is chasing a K or Q high FD he will pay on the turn to see the river and if he misses (80% of time) I will get nothing on the river.

He most likely has TT-KK with no redraws. You're not getting another dime out of him on that board.

If he has less than a PSB left then checking the turn is fine as you can still get it all in on the river. But that deep, all you can do is try to build a pot and hope he has something worth calling with - in this case he didn't

I don't particularly like just calling pf.

I don't mind a turn check because you're WA/WB (lol, you're WA...) and if he's willing to call the turn bet, you'll probably be able to nearly get it in on the river after checking the turn anyway, so just check the turn (because hands that WOULDN'T want to get it in will fold to a turn bet, but ch/call or bet/call, or bet/fold a river...so you get max value with a turn check).

Better than calling a CO open! CO opens are usually FAR too wide to make a flat call profittable...it's a 3bet or fold IMO. I 3bet here with all kinds of suited 1-gappers and SC's.
