Im trying to find CTS's post about 4-bet pushing Ax but cant locate it. Ive been having some trouble in preflop betting wars against some of the regs and was thinking of trying this but i wasnt sure exactly how often he did it etc. help me plz

Basically, he figures that at WORST you've got 30% equity, plus whatever fold equity you have (if it's >20%, then it's +EV).

I don' t think you have to only do this vs regulars for advertising...it's a profittable play in a vacuum (in his opinion) against light 3bettors.

yea i know. its just that usually the light 3-bettors are the regulars.

so i tried this today. for ~3 hours/~2800 hands. It worked really well in terms of loosening the 3-bettors calling range...people started calling me with TT and AQ..as well as JJ+ and AK. I couldnt get any hands to take advantage of it though so meh...after i was looked up 8-9 times i cooled it a bit and waited for hands that never came.

I did tweak it a little though. I didnt 4-bet shove when i raised UTG because, well, most of the regulars never bluff 3-bet an utg raise at a full table at this level. I also figured after they looked my Ax up a few times they would just assume i would do it from utg too.

I also got less respect postflop after getting called down a couple times...especially from the non-regulars.

One more thing...some of the regulars stopped 3-betting me with marginal hands all together...which was great.

I would advise using this only when facing a OTB 3bet and you are in CO or when facing a 3bet from blinds when you are in steal positions..Otherwise its mostly spewing
