BB special #1

Folded to SB who complete, I check with [4h] in the BB. He has $56 and I have him covered. He seems like an average player, maybe a bit passive.

Flop is 45K rainbow.

He checks, I bet $2 and he calls.

Turn is the putting a heart draw out, he checks, I bet $7 and he calls.

River is the so the final board reads K8542 with no flush possible and he checks. There's $20 in the pot and $46 left to bet.



BB special #2

Folded to SB who complete, I check with [7h] in the BB. I have $85 (haven't had time to reload) and he has me covered. He seems like an average player, maybe a bit passive.

Flop is Q76 with two clubs. He bets $3.50 into the $2 pot, I raise to $10. He calls.

Turn is an off suit 5. He checks, I bet $17, he calls.

River is an off suit T so the final board reads QT765. He checks. There's $56 in the pot and $57 left to bet.


What do you do on the river(s)? If you bet, how much, and what do you do if he check/raises?

#1 is well played and river is a very easily value bet. I would bet/fold $15

#2 makes me nervous because of the overbet by a passive player on the flop. Still, I can't really fault your play here. I think given board texture and his willingness to check the river to you indicates you are still ahead here a lot so you need to bet river. The problem is that the stack sizes are kinda awkward. I would like to bet/fold here again but you aren't deep enough...so I guess shoving is best. Ugh...I dunno. In reality I probably bet 1/2 pot or so here.

P.S. Aisthesis: Having "enough pot" is terrible rationale for not getting more value. You should always strive to make the most +EV play.

I particularly weight hand 2 toward draws (moreso than my late-nite post suggests).

And that's another (really the main) reason why I check: If he has busted flush draw, he folds to any bet at all (ok, maybe $1 for A-high), and if he has the straight, he obviously calls/CRs.

Hand #1
I decided to bet the river. I felt his most likely hand was a K, like KT or KJ and that I would get some value.

Hand #2
I thought for a long time but finally checked. The reasons I checked:
- The pot was pretty big already (bad reason of course)
- I couldn't put him on a specific hand. In hindsight, I will get a call from 76, Q6 and a few other second best hands, but QT just sucked out on me and the board is looking a bit scary. Also, if he had a draw he either got there and will bust me or missed and will fold.


Of course I should have done it the other way around. He showed [3h] in hand one and just *called* (oh-kay... he put me on 63?). He hit his gutterball on the turn.

Hand two he had QJo, so he might have been stubborn and called a valuebet.
