Threads and responses

Postby Jav » Wed Nov 10, 2004 7:21 pm

Love the forum. One thing I've noticed is that a post here seems to have a single thread, and there is no way to discern single posts on that thread.

I'm not saying this well, but on some forums (I won't get more detailed, but you know what I mean!) a single thread is split by each response, and each response then becomes it's own thread that can be responded to.

I find that with poker discussions, it can be informative to immediately tell what post someone is responding to in addition to the intial post that spawned the conversation. Is there a way to format this site so that this information is obvious? Ie. if there is a post and three responses, and I click reply on the second response, is there a way for the next reader to tell that I replied to the second response, and not the initial post or the last post in the thread?

Thanks!

Thankyou for your suggestion.

There is a patch that I can put in place to provide something akin to this functionality, where you can reply-to a particular message in the thread, and your post will back-reference the replied-to post.

But 'true' intra-thread nesting is not currently supported, nor can I find a patch for it.

The 'reply-to' patch is on my 'to-do' list for the medium term future.
