How can you "get a better hand to fold" in this situation? Let's keep assuming Xaston's preflop range of AA-99, AK. Postflop, a "better hand" than yours is going to be AA or KK, or AK that spiked an A or a K, or JJ-99 that spiked a set. I don't think trying to get a typical FR player to fold any of those is +EV, especially if you're OOP.

you are making the mistake of playing "against" a hand you put him on instead of a much more useful range of hands.

What do you think he thinks you have? Do you even know? Is he good enough for this to matter, or is he just playing his cards?

OK. Let's pick one. Flop is J65 rainbow. Pot is $16. Our flop action is ...?

JC, I mentioned before that is a raised and reraised pot at 6-max. The pot going to the flop in that thread is 33 BBs. Here, I'm instructed to flat call preflop so that the pot going to the flop is 8 BBs. I don't think the earlier thread applies at all to this situation.

To be more specific: Aisthesis' very extensive discussion in that thread requires us to checkraise all-in on a rag flop. I don't think that's an option here. Aisthesis' reasoning in support of it presumes that there would be a very big pot that we would take from AK, to make up for the fact that we will lose our stack vs AA/KK. That simply doesn't apply to this case.

On a Jxx flop, Aisthesis says (again in the other thread) we should bet out and fold to a raise. That makes sense when the pot is enormous and our bet appears to make us pot committed, so that someone would need balls of steel to push in with AK or TT. But in a smaller pot like the one I'm talking about, a decent % of people will raise headsup when led into with a very wide range. Ice says that's a good play, and in my experience he's right. So bet out and fold to a raise stinks in this situation ... doesn't it?

The more I think about it, the more I hate a flat call out of position preflop. We're effectively trapping with what may or may not be the best hand, and our hand is vulnerable to a bunch of cards even when it is best right now ... and we'll be out of position the rest of the way. I'd rather have 22 and play set or forget than try to play the guessing game of "is my QQ good on this board?" out of position.

PS: I'm running so bad with QQ it's sick, over the last 50k hands.

Villain was LAG, around 35/15/5 at full ring, this is why I shoved pre instead of seeing a flop. I knew the chips were going in anyways.
