AK and QQ PF ($1/$2 Full RIng)

Postby Zuccala » Wed Dec 12, 2007 3:56 pm

I am having some thoughts abput AK and QQ PF is Full Ring games. HEre are sme examples:

Both Players are decent, regulars I see there often. But I am new to $1/$2 so they prolly have lots of qualities I dont know about them, Both hands are are stacks of about 125BB and I am covered.

Hand #1

I get [Qs][Qh] in SB. EP calls, MP calls, CO (Villan) raises $11, I 3BET $35, all folds, then Villan 4BETS $60, Hero?

Analysis:

He raised in the CO after 2 EP limpers so his range is not really wide but not really tight either? I am getting about 4-1 on what is in the pot now and he has another $190 left so I am getting like 12-1 on my money so calling for a set makes sense.

What about the flop? Who likes a CRAI on a non A or K flop? Or does his min 4BET only mean KK or AA? I new to alot of PF agression so I deffinatley need help in this area?

Hand #2

I get [As][Ks] OTB, all folds to Villan in HJ who raises $10, I 3BET $30 all folds to villan who pushes for $220? Thoughts?

Analysis:

He could think that I am on a re-steal here and am weak. So he has to have TT+. Anybody make this call?

Overall:

I am at al loss of how to play AK and QQ when getting 4BET back by villan. I guess standard against villan should be a CRAI if OOP with QQ and push overtop in position on a non Ace or King flop. Then if he shows up with the goods make notes, and adjust from there? Make sense?

With AK it is obviously too weak to give up if someone 3BETS me. Should I just 4BET and call a push>? Then after tangling a few times with these guys preflop I will have a better idea of what is what? no? I cant keep folding these hands all the time or I am gonna get eaten up..right?

I donked around a little at Cake 1/2 FR and found the games extremely extremely weak tight. Most sessions were total limpfests where they would open limp their two broadway card hands and small pp and any raise meant TT+, AJ AQ AK. Any 3 bet by a standard player there is QQ+, AK, and any 4 bet is KK or AA, and that's it.

I would recommend not *3-betting* them with anything other than KK/AA (because their raising ranges are in general so tight to begin with) but call in position with hands like SCs and try to take away the pots postflop with air and semibluffs where they will play weak/tight, or punish their limps with position raises and cbet the flop and watch them fold when they miss their set.

oh, and occasionally you will get idiots open minraising there... that is just an aggressive limp as far as the above advice is concerned.

just my two cents.

So when OTB it is not a good idea to 3bet an open raise from the CO, HJ with AK,AQ,TT+. Or were you just stating in general as those situatuions I mentioned are specific?
