Two limpers to Hero in the SB who raises his AK offsuit to $13. Villain in EP is the only caller. He's not a regular but I have seen him before. He's a typical Bodonk, which I would define as: too loose/passive preflop, postflop will sometimes try to steal pots but often at the wrong times, has calling station tendencies.

He has $180 to start and I cover.

Pot $30. [Qd][3h].

Hero bets $21, Villain instacalls.

Pot $72. . Hero (has no spade fwiw) and ...?????


I'm not liking the board much. All I'm ahead of is KJ/KT. JT just got there, KQ already had me, obviously 33 is in his range. Is there any reason at all to bet this turn?

If we check, what do we do if he bets 2/3 pot to full pot after we check?

Check/Calling sucks hard IMO and should not even be considered.

My standard line would be to bet/fold.

What's wrong with going into Ch/call mode here?

Bet folding is fine, but ch/calling is >>> ch/folding IMO.

I prolly ch/call and consider a river ch/fold.

I want to try and say something smart, but I know this is the kind of hand I end up stacking off on and then bashing my head against the wall for the next hour.

If he bets, you CRAI. This might be the time he "takes a stab at the wrong time" with 88 or whatever.

Anyone who calls a $13 raise with JT will also have KT or QJ here and might stack off with them or at least bet the turn.

If he has JT and you CRAI...well, doesnt matter when compared to what happened anyway.

The CRAI also protects you "checks" in later hands. Once you do that, people are afraid to bet just because you checked.
