played about 4 hours today at Commerce with Rhound. i really dont feel like i played my "A" game. there were a couple hands where i wussed out and missed some value i think (and i was told by rhound). but i booked a $250 winner, so im not too displeased. couple hands of interest...(all at $2/$5 $200max)
i raise one limper with KQo from MP to $25 and the SB calls. flop is Khigh rainbow and SB leads $25, i call. turn is an A that puts a FD out. SB checks, i check after thinking (heres one of those spots i missed out on some fold equity i think). check/check brick river, and we chop as SB has KQo as well.
hand 2, Rhound blind raises my BB to $10 (as commerce wont allow a live straddle), couple calls to CO who raises to $35, folds to me and i reraise to $100 with KK. folds to the CO who thinks for a while and folds and flashes QQ....i think if i was playing on a deeper roll i make a smaller reraise, to like $85 or something but b/c i really only wanted to play on the one buy-in and not have to borrow $ from Rhound, i didnt want to see an A on the flop and/or let some random hand in. so again, probably missed some value there, but im not unhappy with how i played it.
ok, so now the year-end wrap up and '08 goals.
december
basically december sucked balls. i went on a downswing and that caused me to start playing pretty poorly imo. i stopped playing the poker that i had played to build my BR. i started just trying to put in tons and tons of hands. i dont need to. im not playing poker to support myself. im playing to make $ and i clearly make more $ playing shorter sessions.
2007
overall...im pretty happy with how poker went for me this "year" (last few months). i played pretty disciplined. there were definitely moments where i could have gone on super crazy monkey tilt and gone busto. but everytime i needed to, i dropped down and played within my bankroll. i dont think i would have done that in years past.
goals for '08
i'll keep these short since this is getting long.
1)play within my bankroll
2)play short(ish) sessions (500-1200 hands)
3)move up when i have 20BI
4)make the most of my lessons with Kenny
