Very interesting movie. I watched it last night when I was really tired, had just eaten a big meal and had had a headache all day. The movie experience was pretty miserable and I was pretty close to wanting to throw up for most of the movie.

That being said, I think the actually movie was really really good.It's not like most other monster films where they try to instill some deeper message on you or add a lot of sappyness to it (I guess they do to a very small extent w/ Beth but they pull it off very well). It was for the most part just plain, straight-up non stop trying to escape the monster.

Like others have said, a couple of unrealistic scenes but what else do you expect really.

I'll give it an 8 or 8.5. I definitely think it's a movie everybody should see, some will love it, some will hate it. When I first saw the previews I definitely didn't want to see it, then I read some reviews and forum threads and was still pretty iffy, but this was definitely a film I don't regret watching.

I didn't follow any of the hype...

I saw it thinking it was gonna be awesome mindless fun. It didn't meet my expectations. Still, it was cool and had a lot of great scenes. The intro drags on for a while and I still didn't feel like I really cared about the characters within that time - which I imagine was the purpose of the intro: to introduce you to the characters, connect with them, and to highlight the contrast between people being carefree and then suddenly being attacked by a monster. It only succeeded on that last part.

Overall, definitely worth seeing on the big screen. But I expected more I guess.
