Well i've decided to start a blog in the hopes that it will help to bring up my post count here at btp. Really i believe the journal will help keep me focused on what i need to get done with regards to poker. I'v wanted to start this for some time now but have never had the energy to do it. So i finally decided to "get off my lazy ass" and start the fricken journal alrready. I think by keeping a journal, and writing down my goals it will help to keep me more organized, thus helping to improve my game. Some time tonight i'm going to post a "to do list" of what i want to achieve in the next month.
Vinny: Why are we stopped here? What's wrong with that spot?
Tyrone: It's too tight.
Vinny: Too tight? You could land a jumbo f*cking jet in that.

Here are my goals for the next 6 months.

1. To play 3hr's everynight at the .50/1 limit and the 25nl/pl tables

1a. the goal is to make $20 a night. An attainable goal i think, we shall soon see. When i do clear $20 i will take $6 and play in a SNG in holdem.

2. To spend 1-2 hrs a night studying poker.

2a. Reread jen harmon and doyles chapter in Super System 2 and add a summary of them to my poker notebook.

2b to finish harrington on holdem, make notes and then do the same with his second volume.

2c continually re-read my notes from small stakes holdem and holdem for advanced players

2d reread theory of poker, and actually digest all of it

2e continue to pull articles from the internet/ read btp

King,

First off, good on ya for starting a journal. Personally, I am a huge fan of Harmon's limit chapter. Some of the plays she recommends aren't always appropriate at the tables we play at, but nevertheless her theme of relentless aggression has a lot of merit. It's also cool that she says a lot about how to play middle pair, a subject which other books often gloss over.

I especially liked it for the relentless aggression theme. Thats an overall weakness in my game, i'm just not aggressive enough. So hopefully that chapter will help iun that area.

Harmons limit chapter in SS2 borders on revolutionary in my opinion, because its the first peice of published poker literature (that ive read anyway) that im actually convinced by when i read it - as in, i basically beleive that the thought processes she puts to paper are pretty close to the way a top limit player probably really thinks throughout a hand. SSHE is a great book too, but when it push comes to shove, i am a beleiver that poker aint so much about math. Everyone oughta read that one.

Hven't played much poker lately. I've got too much personal crap going on. Currently i am working the normal 40hrs. then going home after work and laying a paver patio under my deck. Lots of work moving all the dirt as my backyard is slanted but it will be real nice when done. Won't be able to put any real time into poker till after july 9th.

Played some pl omaha last nighjt after rereading monks omaha guide. Only played about an hour at the .25/.50 tables but came out ahead 5.00 bucks. Could have been much more but nothing was working for me.

Ok the rain tonight enables me to play some poker. Yeeeees!! Finally i will be able to put in a good 3-4 hr session. I think i'm gonna play some NL holdem. For some reason i have a real itch to play some triple draw but only have money on stars right now so no triple draw for me. I started reading harrington's second book and it is great. I really liked the first book and so far so good with the second one. Theres a section at the end where he lists the hands of a heads up match between ivey and j d'agastino. He shows you what they did and then comments on it. Great stuff. his chapters about inflection points are very well thought out. Overall i think that these two books will help my overall play more then any other books.

This weekend i am heading to AC for sat night. Got to go to a engagement party sat afternoon, so after that me, the woman, and some friendss are heading over, got a room in harrahs. Hopefully i will get to playt some poker but we'll see. July 4th weekend, and a sat night equals long wait lists. If anyone is gonna be in ac sat let me know.

Ahhhh rain, can't do any back breaking work in the rain. Great stuff.

Finally the patio is laid and done. Took off of work yesterday to finish it before the pig roast we are having tomorrow. literally worked from 10am to 10pm, very long day. Actually worked till my finges bled, honestly. You can't even see my fingerprints on my hands, and i have where my finger prints should be are cuts are painful scabs. But its done and looks damn nice. Also picked up porky, our loveable 40lb porker that will be roasted tomorrow. If you've never eaten at a pig roast you are def. missing out. Sunday have to take the fiancee to her bridal shower and then finally i will get to play some poker on monday. FINALLY!!!! As of monday i will be back on the schedule i made in my first post. Lots of reading/studying and lots of playing. Yeeee HAHH
