The Bad

I know, min raise equals monster but this is the second one i've picked off recently because something about him just made me suspcious. It was probably still prudent to fold but I called to see how he bet on later streets. By the end, I thought I was gonna win or split but decided not to press my luck with a raise.

The Ugly

I couldn't get a better flop but then I couldn't get a worse turn or river. Luckily, he waited for the river to bet big because this could have cost me a lot more on other streets.

Don't matter too much. I didn't lose many big pots and I won quite a few big pots on a night I just wanted to grind out the bonus before it expires. I have been playing poker pretty much every day for 2 weeks so I'm gonna take a day or two off at least to just relax. I'm already up more than $600 this month which is 2/3 the way to what I normally pull in for a full month. If I had been playing more online than live homegames, this would be higher since I have a higher win rate online. However, when home games just get formed at your house without even trying, how am I not supposed to play?

Quick session tonight as I had some time to kill and I was bored. Finished up $5 in about an hour

Found a couple of monkeys on one table that I couldn't take advantage of. Here's a couple examples on their great plays.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.5 BB (10 handed)

UTG+1 ($33.75)
UTG+2 ($80.45)
Hero ($49.5)
MP2 ($40.7)
MP3 ($22.7)
CO ($35)
Button ($51.7)
SB ($49.5)
BB ($170.3)
UTG ($52.6)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with [Qd], [Jh].
UTG calls $0.50, 5 folds, CO raises to $8, 3 folds, UTG calls $7.50.

Flop: ($16.75) [3h], [Kd], [7s] (2 players)
UTG checks, CO bets $27 (All-In), UTG calls $27.

Turn: ($70.75) [8h] (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: ($70.75) [Qs] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $70.75

Results in white below:
UTG has 4c 3c (one pair, threes).
CO has 9s 9d (one pair, nines).
Outcome: CO wins $70.75.

UTG+2 is CO from the last hand and CO is UTG from the last hand

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.5 BB (10 handed)

Button ($31.25)
SB ($80.6)
Hero ($50)
UTG ($50)
UTG+1 ($42)
UTG+2 ($150.9)
MP1 ($51.7)
MP2 ($54)
MP3 ($94.05)
CO ($11.85)

Preflop: Hero is BB with [3s], [3d].
2 folds, UTG+2 raises to $3, 3 folds, CO raises to $11.85 (All-In), 3 folds, UTG+2 calls $8.85.

Flop: ($24.45) [4s], [7d], [3c] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Turn: ($24.45) [8c] (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: ($24.45) [3h] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $24.45

Results in white below:
UTG+2 has Kd Jd (one pair, threes).
CO has Qs Kh (one pair, threes).
Outcome: CO wins $24.45.

This one really pissed me off because UTG+2 had been making huge raises preflop like he had in the first hand but he was doing it constantly so when he finally made a raise small enough for me to call, i was happy. Here comes the other jackass to mess it up and not only would I have flopped a set but I would have rived quads. SON OF A BITCH!

Bri... that first hand is freakin hilarious... UTG thought his Bottom Pair, horrible kicker was gonna hold up, huh...? On the second, against these same 2 idiots, I MAY (stress may) have considered calling there... This guy obviously blows chunks... If I had a pretty good idea UTG+2 was gonna call, that would give you the implied odds to make this a pretty decent call... Plus, after seeing what he played, there's a chance your a favorite, and he's playing Ax or Kx, which it turned out he was... I'm probably just being results oriented, as I once folded flopped quad 2s when someone raised $12 PF at a B&M game... I was shittin a brick on that hand...

Things are changing......

First, my job is now pretty different. I only go to the office when my boss has a project to work on rather than being there part time and sitting there mostly doing nothing since he gets about 1 job a week on average which I finish working on in about 4 hours. Therefore, I only get paid per job which is a good amount but since he get so few jobs, it will be tough. The good thing is instead of being there 20 hours a week, I only show up about 4 hours whenever I want to go. What sucks is that I was supposed to go to this system 2 weeks ago but he forgot to change it so of course he get 4 jobs during this period so instead of getting paid big, I got normal pay and now he might not get any jobs in for a while so fuck me!

Therefore, I got to put in more time playing poker as I have no excuse now with all the extra time I have. We'll see how this goes for a while and then I will determine what my job situation is really like. If it isn't going well, I'll have to get some sort of other job, probably through a temp agency, do poker and the other job on the side which should mean I would have plenty of money coming in.

Played a quick session on saturday to kil some time. I only played 45 minutes but made $45. Had a few hands that really went my way early and played a little above even poker after that. Here are a few hands:

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.5 BB (10 handed)

MP3 ($50)
CO ($32.45)
Button ($47.6)
SB ($53.8)
BB ($60.9)
UTG ($51.05)
UTG+1 ($29)
UTG+2 ($56.5)
MP1 ($27.8)
Hero ($76.15)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with [As], [Ac].
2 folds, UTG+2 calls $0.50, 1 fold, Hero raises to $2, 3 folds, SB calls $1.75, 1 fold, UTG+2 raises to $6, Hero raises to $25, SB folds, UTG+2 raises to $56.5 (All-In), Hero calls $31.50.

Flop: ($115.50) [Qc], [5c], [8h] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Turn: ($115.50) [Jd] (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: ($115.50) [Ks] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $115.50

Results in white below:
UTG+2 has Ah Ad (one pair, aces).
Hero has As Ac (one pair, aces).
Outcome: UTG+2 wins $57.75. Hero wins $57.75.

Thank god he had AA because besides AK, I can't think of another hand that he would play like this that I beat.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.5 BB (10 handed)

Button ($45.75)
SB ($41.45)
BB ($48.6)
UTG ($52.3)
UTG+1 ($60.9)
UTG+2 ($51.55)
MP1 ($30)
MP2 ($56.5)
MP3 ($27.8)
Hero ($50)

Preflop: Hero is CO with [7s], [9s].
2 folds, UTG+2 calls $0.50, MP1 calls $0.50, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.50, Button calls $0.50, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($3) [8c], [5s], [Jd] (6 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG+2 checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets $2, Button calls $2, SB calls $2, BB folds, UTG+2 folds, MP1 folds.

Turn: ($9) [6c] (3 players)
SB bets $0.5, Hero raises to $6, Button calls $6, SB calls $5.50.

River: ($27) [8d] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $10, Button calls $10, SB folds.

Final Pot: $47

Results in white below:
Hero has 7s 9s (straight, nine high).
Button has Jc Th (two pair, jacks and eights).
Outcome: Hero wins $47.

Double gutshot turned to nuts then a bad river but I felt confident and just hoped I would get a call.

I will have to step up my game and I hope to be at the $100 within a month or 2. I definitely have the money but I want to make sure I have the skill. I've been making $30-35 an hour playing 4 50NL. If I continue a pace like that and get that to a $50+ rate at the $100 tables, I'll be really happy.

What a shitty day. I play only a little over 2 hours but I'm down 1.5 buy ins. I got KK vs AA, flopped set vs flopped straight, AK getting out drawn by short stacks and top set being taken out by overpair with flush draw. Only a couple hands went my way and they were pretty small in comparision to the ones I lost. They can be found in the NL section.

One good hand of the day:

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (9 handed)

UTG+1 ($73.60)
MP1 ($102.90)
MP2 ($19.50)
MP3 ($58.90)
CO ($12.50)
Button ($77.05)
SB ($20.35)
BB ($31.15)
Hero ($50.55)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with [Kc], [Kd].
Hero raises to $2, 1 fold, MP1 calls $2, 5 folds, BB calls $1.50.

Flop: ($6.25) [Th], [2s], [5d] (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $6, MP1 folds, BB raises to $29.15, Hero calls $23.15.

Turn: ($64.55) [2c] (2 players)

River: ($64.55) [2h] (2 players)

Final Pot: $64.55

Results in white below:
BB has 9d Ts (full house, twos full of tens).
Hero has Kc Kd (full house, twos full of kings).
Outcome: Hero wins $64.55.

I only got 1/10 of the FPP needed on stars for the reload bonus too. It looks like I will need that bonus to get even. Maybe I should just stick to limit to earn it since it goes slow at NL.

This is not a good way to start my whole "play more poker as I will need the money"
plan. Tomorrow, I will try to recover and maybe come up with a new name to this plan as its a little bulky at this time.

Those are really good hourly numbers...Keep them up there!

BTW, I wnated to let you know I'm not going to AC anytime soon. A couple of people convinced me it was a slum...so I'm waiting for Vegas or possibly Coasta Rica ;-)

Well, since I lost those pots recently, my winrate is just under $30 an hour now rather than $35 at 50nl.

Costa Rica here we come! Kenny's buying right?

Haven't played too much lately besides some boring home games. I've had a couple sessions the past couple days on empire to work off the bonus. Posted some hands in the NL section but I had some sweet hands that went my way. One of my NL posts was one that someone slowplayed trips on the flop so I could hit my boat on turn to bust him. That was nice. So were these:

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.5 BB (10 handed)

Hero ($51.15)
BB ($53.2)
UTG ($38.8)
UTG+1 ($57.5)
UTG+2 ($47)
MP1 ($34.5)
MP2 ($47.55)
MP3 ($13.2)
CO ($95.7)

This guy was once a huge stack when I got there with about $200 and then I saw him call down huge bets with AJ and he kept commenting on how people suck about chasing when he can't fold a hand once he hits top pair. I was praying to get him and he was nice enough to give me his money. He went on to tell me to suck his dick and I fucking suck and then left. I was pissed because he still had money for me to take and now its gone.

Overall, I'm up about $140 in 700 hands on empire and I'm about 1/3 through the bonus. I'll finish it the next couple days and then I'll have to finish the stars bonus.

I've had a few sessions today. One was barely profitable because of one late hand and the second one was just frustrating as I had very few hands that were big. I either won a small pot or lost a small pot. However, I think I was about 90% in pot steal which were numerous and without, I would be down probably clost to $50 for that session. Instead, I was down $9 for overall $10 profit but I'm 500 hands closer to the empire bonus.

Here are some hands that happened that sum up my day.

Once again, I correctly put him on a flush draw so I felt that just betting a decent amount on the river would work. He was a semi solid player so I thought $5 was enough and bam!

Oh well. Tomorrow is another day that should be filled with pitch and putt golf and then some poker. I'm trying to enjoy my "time off" between "consulting" jobs so I can learn when is "best" to use "quotes" in a "sentence." Also, I just get to do what I want when I want. I love that turn raise with the [7c][8c], when you had the flushdraw and gutshot straight draw. Beautiful. Too bad you didn't hit.

Fold is perfect on QQ.

Should have checked teh river on that one AA hand to induce a bluff. The way I figure...if you check and he has you beat with a set or two pair..they usually value bet. If he bets big...he's probably bluffing. that's been my experience with those types of hands.

That's what I figured but I realized that just as I went all in and I just said "I shouldn't have done that" and 2 seconds later, he folds. With the way the other guy was betting his AQ, I could have taken a lot off him if I had hit either of my draws.

The converter doesn't like these omaha hands.

Got to play with monk a little while he was trying to clear the bonus. We got into it with one guy that seemed to have an obssession with homosexual men. I saved the conversation for anyone's reading pleasure. He like to berate people including one guy later who raised every pot and grew a big stack. It you want to win money off the guy, don't make fun of him or he might leave. What a dumbass.

Warning, no real content below like most of monk's and my posts.

FeloniusMonk: this website is such a joke
briachek1: shut up monk
