I'm a noob, but it def seems better than shoving yourself. If his range is pairs and fit/fold hands like KQ, the flop hasnt changed anything for the pairs. Checking allows him to donk off with the fit/fold hands as well.
The exception i spose would be if he plays 88-TT in a fit/fold way as well. i.e. waiting for flop and folding if it contains an ace and pushing otherwise. In that case, check/fold?
I dont see how you pushing makes any sense whatsoever.
