Players only go busto if they 'gamble' with their bankroll.
Going bust is usually going to be a sign that you do have a gambling problem.
I really don't gamble - no horses, no lotteries, never played any casino game, no daytrading, no sportsbetting etc.
Poker really is different. I think most of my friends and family realise this now after a couple of years of a steady drip of money going into my joint account most months and none ever going back out.
My wife likes it better when I short-stack though - shorter sessions and I get much less stressed as the swings are far less (and the $6000 I keep in my online roll is obscenely over-rolled for $40 buy-ins at $1/2 of course). She doesn't like it when I play full stacked and go on a bad run (as I get grumpy) or when I'm tied up in an MTT for 5+ hours... (as she doesn't get put to bed).
