Rake at .5/1 1/2 NL is about 4-5ptbb dependent on site..so it does affect your WR

I left iPoker to play at Absolute, as the skin I was playing at was pretty tough by $50NL standard, lots of multi tableing 19/15 TAGs, and lots of TAG regulars. I was getting fabulous RB but getting sick of playing with a bunch of TAGs all the time.

Well - obvious stats are the low W$SD relative to a low WtSD% stat, the big losses out of the blinds and...

With that sort of pre-flop aggro (15%+ PFR) you should be winning more than 40% W$WSF. I play 22/9 or so and manage 45% W$WSF.
Xaston is up nearer 50% with similar pre-flop stats to you.

BUT MAINLY

WTF is up with checking more than you bet on every street post-flop?

I am away from my PC now so can't check PT, but I can't believe most winning players check the flop more than they bet it.

You have the vig most of the time on the flop, probably most often HU and yet you are only betting 25% of the time and check/fold/calling the rest?

I don't understand what is going on. Frankly and all in all, you are a CR donk pre-flop (all well and good) but then have weak-tight syndrome post-flop.

Don't be mislead by the 5+ flop aggression stat. A guy who bets 1 in 4 and calls one in 20 (as you do) might rate as 'aggressive' in PT terms but that is only because checks and folds are not counted either way. A guy who raises 75% of his hands pre-flop and then calls/checks or folds 75% of flops isn't anything but passive in my book..

Thanks for the time and your response, appreciated and I respect your knowledge of PT, however....

I don't think you perhaps understand the level of thinking of the guys I'm currently playing. The CR donk style (I think it's wrong to call it that but w/e, we'll refer to it for the ease of argument) is typically 21/19, or 23/21 yes? I don't think 19/15 is a style you could attribute to that mould at all. I would not consider myself a student of the CR style. I like it, I love playing 21/19 but it simply is not possible vs the type of players I'm facing generally, who will not lay a hand down.

I've recently started implementing double barrels in my game, something that Kenny taught me and by and large it is very effective vs the right player, many of which do not frequent the 50's at Absolute poker where I play. I believe my WWSF % to be above average, I know from speaking to other players whom play at my level, on Absoute, their WWSF% is some what lower than mine.

I don't think you can compare my WWSF % with Xaston's. Xaston is clearly a talented player, who has great hand reading skills, but more importantly, plays at a level where his opposition will generally fold to his post flop aggression, this is clearly shown in his WWSF % of near 50%.

Equally, I think comparing my stats, with yours, is a bad example. I play fully stacked, often 200bb deep, 6 max at the 50's. You play short stacked poker, where I imagine a lot of the edge comes from committing players preflop, and no doubt some good hand reading skills to put them on a range. Essentially, you're leaving yourself less open to turn and river cards scaring you (a flush draw hitting etc) as most of the time, you're committed and going in with your 20bbs.


The checking flop/turn/river thing is perhaps something I need to work on, but again a great deal of it is bourne from playing players who do not fold, and cannot fold, and chase every draw in the book, and seemingly hit quite a lot on me recently. Unfortunately there are not enough occasions where a scare card hits on the turn, giving me a good double barrel opportunity, or a CR opportunity. More often than not, the scare card scares ME, and not the other way around.

I'm hopeful that as I move up, GLR will develop my ability to win more pots through post flop agggression, and develop my hand reading skills but at the moment it's pretty futile when you can't get someone to lay down TPSK, or a gutshot etc, when we have air.

It all comes down to your level of thinking I guess, bottom line is these guys I play don't think for the most part, they look at their cards, then the board, then their cards and bet/fold/call accordingly.

I hope this hasn't come across and a "know it all" post as the truth is, I know fuck all but I think the comparisons you are making with your stats (shorstacking) and Xaston's stats (good players know where a fold button is) are a bit way off base.
