I agree with Roy: when I see someone limp UTG I immediately move them one step closer to "donk". If I find out that they limp hands like 22-77, then I move them one step closer to "passive preflop" and I get an uber read on what happens when they limp-call and then CR a flop or turn...folding to their CRs becomes so easy because it's a monster every time.

Okay, you're going to say: but that means I can start doing it as a bluff profitably.

Okay, I'm going to say that I'm generalizing here and just because you're the ONLY player I've ever seen willing to do this, doesn't invalidate my read that works 99.9999% of the time. If I see you do it as a bluff, then my read obviously changes. This is why you play poker vs every single individual player - but before you get good enough reads on how a specific player plays, we start out with generalizations...and limping UTG is one of the better ones.

Iceman if you want a valid reason for raising 66 UTG, take a 2nd look at my 1st post on page 1.

Apparently you fail to see your range is very polarized to 1 hand if you play for stacks on this flop, otherwise we wouldn't have this thread in the 1st place since you woulda called the flop raise then, given that it would have kept your range wider and therefor more profitable vs thinking players.

I can see one situation (not saying there aren't other, ICe plz enlight me) where it might be higher EV to limp UTG preflop:

1. Table very very passive preflop. With exactly none 22/17 guys behind you since he would punish you everytime.
2. They have to be very aggressive post flop + calling down tendencies so you get to play big pots with your big hands.
