PTO - figures

RIGHT! Well I've finally got Poker Tracker Omaha running (with some help from pokertracker mike!) and imported my most recent hands at Cryptologic - here's my personal figures so far in the PLO high games ($100 up to £200 (about $380) buyin games):

~25k hands

VPIP% = 22% (seems rather low, I should play more hands in the later seats I think)

VP%SB = 36% (seems about right)

Won $ When saw flop = 21%

17.26 PT BB/100 hands (which I believe = 34.52 BB/100 "real"; got to be happy with that, I think)

WTSD% = 18%

Won$SD = 62% (perhaps a bit high, maybe I'm folding a little too often but I put more stock in my instincts than PT numbers really)

PreFlop Raise % = 3.6% (this is way low and I realise one of my problems of late is being too passive at times)

Aggression factors:

Preflop: 0.19
Flop: 2.69
Turn: 2.27
River: 2.21

Haven't had time to go for hand categories yet, but AAxx I've had 600+ times, wins 38% and is on 3.11 BB/hand

I'm working on bringing up some nbumbers for my play elsewhere, and also total figures for the year in the next few days.

Anyone else doing something similar?

Monk, I think the PTO bb/100 is actually double the normal big bet/100, so in actuality your numbers in bb/100 (when bb = big bet) would be half that.

Of course, I could be mistaken. I'll try and post my numbers from PLO8 when I get home tonight. Would be interesting for all of us to compare and see where we can improve.

No, it's the other way around... for instance, if in $1/2 limit you make 2BB/100, that's 2x $2 = $4. However, the big blind is $1 in 1/2. So in fact your 2 BB (big bets) is 4 BBs (big blinds). So, in 100NL, your 2BB/100 is 2 big BETS per 100, corresponding to $4/100 or 4 big BLINDS per 100.

Confusing, I know :) i don't know why they don't just change big BETS to big BLINDS for NL/PL games. Perhaps because they're big BET games, and therein lies the paradox.

Whatever.

A pokertracker BB is half a "real" BB in statistical terms for a NL or PL game. 10BB/100 = 20BB/100 in reality. Unless they've sorted it since then, which I believe not as my spreadsheet stats inform me (judging on about 37 hands per hour) that I make close on 30 BB/100 in PLO. Pokertracker is saying about 32, although if I mix in my Party/Empire and Stars stats it actually drops to a bit under 30.

I am a losing player in my last 10k hands at Party/Empire, for 100 and 200 PLO, so my stats at these two desperately similar sites have very different winrates! interestingly, both Party and Crypto have loose tables, Stars is generally a tad more tight, and yet there I am a fairly solid winner. Massive winner at Crypto, Decent winner at Stars, loser at Party/Empire. Maybe it's just small sample sizes, but frankly my huge winrate and low variance at the other sites suggests to me that my Party/Empire stats are just crazy :?

Relief!

Postby messenger309 » Fri Jul 15, 2005 7:18 am

LOL, I guess I should have read the fine print in PTO. I have been trying to increase my winrate up from the 10 bb/100 that PTO shows to somehwere close to what other people were claiming. I thought I was going nuts (not in a good way)!

No I see that I don't have as far to go as I thought.

BTW, Starting hand categories can be found here:

wraps and such

Postby messenger309 » Fri Jul 15, 2005 4:45 pm

When I first started out with the categories, I wanted to avoid any overlap between categories. The problem I had with the KK wrap and QQ wrap was that they almost never come up. In 25000 hands I have had 5 KKQJ and 7 QQJT hands.

The problem is there is no way to keep them out of the KKxx and QQxx categories. If you don't mind that the totals won't be correct I think the best solution is to add them to the high wrap categories and let them be double counted in the others.

I wish suitedness was a feature too but as far as categories goes it turns out not to be too important. The ace warp categories assume suitedness (why else play A875?) and in the other categories suitedness is obviously a bonus but you would probably play those hands anyway. Now, if you wanted to compare wraps double suited and wraps single suited, well, you can't.

I will probably revise the categories to include the wraps as you suggested and I think I will separate the 'Big Pairs' category into KKxx and QQxx as I find their is a dramatic difference in the two hands.

new categories

Postby messenger309 » Sat Jul 16, 2005 7:50 am

Here is the overlap set. I removed the Big Pairs (kk,QQ) and replaced with just KK. I adjusted all the high cats to include AA, KK and QQ possibilities. I added three new categories based on your suggestions. Aces & Broadway, Kings and Broadway, and Big Doubles.
