After reading Harrington's Vol. 2 on Inflection Points, I realized why I cash alot online, but always crawl into the $. I don't open it up. When I started, I was happy to make the $, but not anymore. Here's how I went out last night in a Stars $2.

About 280 out of 1100 left, blinds are 100/200 25 ante. I have 3500 left giving me an M6-7 in the Red Zone. I get A8 in the BB and check when the pot is unraised. 3 players see the flop of AQJ. SB with 20,000+ bets 400 and I move in. Other player folds and he calls with QJ and I'm done.

I felt good about it when it was over because felt I followed Harrinton's advice and my M would have goten me out of the Red. I guess I could have moved in preflop, but the SB was bullying the small stacks and probably would have called with QJ.

Opinions?

Not a bad move imo. It's not the ideal situation but oh well, I'd probably do it every time.

ehhhh..i dunno. Only a better hand calls. There's also a possibilty a limper behind you, limped with a very powerful hand. I'm not sure this was the right spot.

Why move in when you can make a legit raise and still have some money left? If you had raised his bet to $2000 and he called or movedin overtop...you would have known you had the losing hand.....and could have floded with about $1500 left.

Well, small blind is a big stack who would probably call with something like KQ, A5, JT, etc. so he's raising more or less to either win the pot there or get heads up with the big stack, who is far more likely to call with a worse hand. At least, that's my thinking on the situation. If that was your mindset when making this play, than the more money you put in the better, as you have to think 3500 would be a bit harder to call than 2k... although maybe not. I'm not sure. Don't take my advice to mean much right now, as I haven't even made it deep in the money in the last 15 tourneys I've played...
