Hand 1 - I assume you mean flop bet? And I don't mind it. If the SB has shown to be very check-raise happy then I'd prefer to check behind, but If he's not check-raising us often then I like a bet to protect our hand/get value out of worse hands.

Hand 2 - You mean flop again? I would not fold getting the odds he's laying us with how hidden our hand is.

Hand #1) My coach wanted a double barrel here in Hand #1 because he was short, and is the only hand I disagreed with him somewhat strongly on. He says it's mainly due to experience and doesn't think not betting it is a leak, and we both agree T9 is the best possible hand we can have to bet in that spot as we have no draw and no showdown value.

We both agree we check behind with a straight draw or an ace.

Hand #2) I would usually call here, but my coach said this is a call because of the two diamonds on the board. If it were a rainbow it'd be an easy call, and I had been losing money calling in this spot so he convinced me it was a fold. I guess maybe he was wrong on this one, I'm not sure.

If villain has a piece, being short is a worse spot to dbl barrel because they're very unlikely to fold even 2nd/3rd pair, let alone any K.

2. I don't put villain on a FD very often, so there being 2 diamonds is good for you because a diamond may fall on the turn causing him to ch/fold often enough for you to semi-bluff the diamond.

Hand 1: I think I'd just give up on the turn. A shortstacker is never laying down TP and one of the straight draws just hit. The flop was really dry so what could he be calling with here? A small bet makes it look like he's got odds to call (esp. since there is now a flush draw) and a bigger bet just commits you which is even worse.

Hand 2: Villain's mistake in this hand is not raising enough. You can exploit that mistake by just calling. 3-betting gives him another chance to correct his mistake in one of the best ways possible (shoving) and putting you in a bad spot (calling when behind). Besides, if you raise your hand becomes pretty transparent imo. Double gutters pay very nicely because they are so disguised.
