Villain is directly to my left. He's overall too loose.

I raise 8[h] 8[d] in MP.

Villain min raises and I call. He started wtih $140 and I cover.

Flop ($32) 9[c] 3[d] 3[c]. I check. He instashoves.

Thoughts?

it's tough with him reraising you pre. But once again I'm going to say that this looks so much like AK. like ice said though, if he's got [Kc] you're in trouble. I"d always rather be pushing vs. the two over cards + NFD to at least get FE.

I always want to say call in these spots, because it looks SOOOOO much like a donk "hey I've got a good hand but that board doesn't help me so I'm just going to shove and hope I win the pot"

I think I base my decision entirely on how aggressive he is though. If he's AF is 4+ i'm snapping this. if it's below 2 i'm mucking.

THat being said, it's never that easy, and I'd wager that this guy runs with an AF or roughly 3. I think that's high enough tow arrant a call though.

I would call with JJ, maybe TT, but 88 seems a tad marginal. I don't hate a call, but the problem is that with 88 here you could be drawing slim since there's an overcard (he could be doing this with A9s, T9 etc) on the board, and he will pretty much always have at least 6 outs when you're behind (unless he's doing it with a smaller pp).

With a slightly bigger PP you will be ahead of 9x and you will sometimes be blocking his outs (say he has AJ or AT, or KTs or something).

Electrolux, who unlike me is a winning player, would say "Wait for a better spot" though.

You mention villain is too loose, but how aggressive has he been PF? If he's loose passive his min raise would concern me, I would think it's something like AK or a big PP. I think against a loose passive this is probably a fold they're usually not doing it with a draw. The 3 bet PF makes me think a high PP. If he were a LAG (which I don't think he is because most LAG's dont min raise) I'd probably call.
