Low varience my ass!
Current mood: awake

LON: Hi this is Lon McKarin; along with Norman Chad. Tonight we're bringing you live to the Bodog Online World Championship.
LON: Well Norm were down to 3 handed in this world class event. We have Kennyg from North Carolina...he's a professional poker player that claims to be one of the best online NL player's in the world.
NORM: Yeah I thought I was one of the best lovers in the world until my 4th wife left me.
LON: haha. At least she knew when to fold a bad hand......Our second player at the featured table is "Action Dan" Suckington. He's a muppet from Miami, Florida.. Our third and final player is Chris Moneyfish from Dallas, Texas. Norm, do these players even have a chance against kennyg?
NORM: I don't think so, Lon. Kennyg is way above their level. Experienced, disciplined, and selectively aggressive; He is a big time winner at NL poker.
LON: Ok here we go! The first hand is being dealt on our featured table. Dan Suckington has picked up T7o on the button. He limps. A little loose Norm?
NORM: He's fishing without a paddle. T7o?? He needs to throw those cards in the nearest trash bin.
LON: Chris Moneyfish has a 82o and limps from the Small Blind. He must think he might hit a big flop at half price?
NORM: Well you can make two seperate straights with the 82 since it isn't connected Lon. Two flushes as well.
LON: Kenny has a 75 of hearts and checks in the BB. Here comes the flop.
FLOP
[9c][6s]
LON: What a dynamite flop! Kenny bets out the pot. He has to think his hand is good. Dan Suckington reraises All-in! He's not slowplaying his monster. He's pretty sure he has the nuts, so he's gonna bet it big now so he doesn't get confused!
NORM: Unbelievable Lon. Even if a nuclear bomb went off Dan Suckington would still be holding his cards.
LON: Kenny calls quickly with a sigh. They flip the cards over.
Norm: He's not gonna like seeing this. Somehow I think he knows he's beat though.
LON: Kennyg is stunned! The turn and river are no help. Kennyg has lost another stack to Dan Suckington!
NORM: Kennyg is going to need some physical and emotion support after that hand. Maybe he'll get laid when he gets back home.
LON: Doubtful, Norm.

What a nightmare. My table breaks up and only 3 players including me are left. I lose to suckout after suckout and just plain bad luck. I was much, much better then these players...but the luck factor really was killer. There's nothing you can do when you hit second nut monsters on a 3 handed table. You certainly can't fold them!
I ended up losing around $900...it wasn't too bad really. It felt like more though...because I started the session up around $250.
I was so frustrated afterwards. Ugh! I've haven't felt like that in a long, long time. I even went to bed, woke up...and still was feeling it in my stomach. It was like someone had knocked the wind out of me hardcore.
Finally, during the day, I got over it. I just decided that I cannot change the past. All I can do is learn from it and move on. My life isn't going to end because of that bad session. My bankroll might...
lol....but really I have so much to be thankful for. Money might be able to buy happiness...but I don't need it. My life is great, dammnit...so I just made myself smile all day long.

Today I played well again. I got lucky on one hand that was unfoldable (AT on a flop of TT7) and then I just mowed everyone else down. I won $700 and almost got all my money back from last night.
Even better then that...I think I've figured out why I haven't been able to put in great weeks lately. Apparently, I've been "hitting and running" way too much. I randomly read a Rolf Slotboom article about it....and it just rang true. I'm thinking I'm going to start playing longer sessions...as long as I have an edge I'll be fine. I know when to stop.
Here's the article if you're curious:

Other then all of this...I'm really hoping the final table of the World Series will feature Raymer, Ivey, and Matsow. Exciting stuff. I'm as giddy as a school boy thinking about Ivey and Raymer playing heads up for the championship.
Later!
PS: Thanks to Bobby's journal for letting me have this cool idea about making a post involving TV coverage
I stole it from him! I'm a bastard.
