I just fired off a negotiation e-mail to my boss. There's no way I'm taking the job for 45k. My bare minimum for that position is 55k because that's what I can get elsewhere. I also asked him to see if he could get me a contract position at 65k or if there was a full time engineering spot open, in which case I'd happily wait patiently for.
NV I don't see how playing poker on the side while I look for a better paying job is crazy. Taking a job I'm way overqualified and underpaid for is crazy imo.
About the hand ranges thing, again, I think there is a misconception about the definition of a hand range. I think Ice/Johnny are thinking in terms of wide hand ranges, and h2t, GLR, and others are thinking in terms of variable hand ranges.
For example, on the river the board reads blah blah blah with 3 hearts. A super nitty player bets, gets raised, then shoves. Johnny you say the A-hi flush is not a range, but rather an exact hand. Well, there are 14 ways to make up a suited ace so that's the range h2t is referring to.
You're never going to know exactly what 2 cards someone has. In the above example, are you telling me that you know for certain he has
[Kh]? Why not
[2h] or
[Jh]? How the hell can you possibly know this? You CAN'T and that's what hand ranges are for.
Now, if you're a good player then obviously your hand ranges will be a LOT more accurate than an inexperienced players. Again referring to the above example, villain might have
[Kh] down through
[Th] because he's a tight player and no other suited ace. But that's still a hand range and narrowing it down to just 1 exact hand is another inexperienced mistake, imo.
