Can't remember where I read it but the statement went something like: Worrying about running out of oil would be similar to people of 150 years ago worrying about running out of hay to fuel their horses.
The idea is that we will be using a different technology (and different fuel) well before we run out of fuel for the existing technology.
All other issues are not addressed but that's not what this thread is about.
