Haven't used the hand converter before so I apologize in advance if it doesn't come out right. The outcome was pure gold, but what about the turn raise? Too aggressive?

Very nice.... like the way you played it too, good turn raise, though it's more marginal than it would perhaps look, definitely +EV unless the first player raises and everyone else folds.

Drade,

Nice hand, usually I'm the one getting shown the Royals rather than the one making them. Also, I'm in town until friday, send me an e-mail if you are playing any relatively cheap poker in the next couple days. It's scott AT fit.edu

Later,

I'm with you Monk in that the more I look at the hand the more I question the turn raise. Yes, it worked out great this time, but overall I think it's close. When I'm playing my best O/8 game, these value bets/raises when there are a lot of relatively weak one-way chasers are big money makers, but I'm not so sure this is one of those times. The problem is that the turn card looks much better for me than it actually is. Yes it gives me the nut flush draw, but it completes the QJ straight that I'm positive is out, and it also puts a backdoor low draw out.

Assuming that my full house outs are clean, I only have 8 scoop outs, the 3 Kings, 3 10's, and the [9c] and [Qc] . Factor in the low clubs and the other Queens and I've got about 17 outs to some part of the pot. 17 out of the 44 unseen cards is about 39%. So basically, 20% of the time I improve and win the whole pot, 20% I improve and win half the pot, and 60% of the time I don't improve and lose the whole thing. I think I'm right this far. So, with 5 of us in on the turn, assuming everyone just calls my raise, 20% of the time I win everything, which is a +$40 win for me (5 players * $8 per person), 20% of the time I win half for +$20 for me, and 60% of the time I lose everything, -$24 for me, for a total of +$36 if they all call. If the lead bettor three bets, a few will fold, though probably not all, and my rate will be affected, though probably not to a point to make it -EV. If my math is right, it seems like my turn bet is very much a positive play, much more than I thought... Comments?
