Are you over it?

Postby odogg » Tue Dec 28, 2004 9:06 am

This is the question I have started asking myself after hands like this.

5/10 Limit.

I am dealt Jh 8h in the BB. 4 players limp into me and we take the flop.

7h 9c Ts

Needless to say I am thrilled. I do not play around at all. I bet out into a field of 4 people where I know I will get action. All 4 call.

Turn 3h

Well I obviously would like to see a rainbow but hey I am now 4 to a flush and still have the nut straight. I bet again to which I get 3 calls.

River is a 6h

Went from a nut straight to a J high flush. Still happy with my hand I bet but I get raised by the button. I call and he flips over Qh 4h and takes it down. My mouth dropped but I didn't get to pissed so I thought.

30 minutes later I found myself still thinking about the beat and how stupid this guy was. I immediately closed all my tables and took a break. I was definately not over it. If you find yourself thinking of beats 30 or 40 minutes later then you are ready to go on tilt. You are in fact asking for it. As a poker player you have to have thick skin and amnesia to bad beats.

Have the control to step away for an hour and come back with fresh thoughts and attitude.
