Stone... if you checkraise that flop, on a Party $10SNG... You're almost already at the point where it's allin and pray... You don't get a lot of chips to play with, and that's a dangerous play where he could just as easily have AK... On UB or Stars, I think that's a good play...

Assuming that the minimum raise indicates that this player is inexperienced and he most likely has something like A x, or a low pocket pair. This is scary as if he has
A - 6, 7, 8, 9 he has you beat bad…. It’s very early in the tournament, so you’d have to have some balls to call all in with top pair, second kicker… I’d say folding is the right decision on the river, as it’s basically not worth the risk, since it is likely he has two pair or the 7…. It's not too bad to have 600 chips early in the game then haveing 1600 or 0 with a blind gamble....

I'm new to sit and goes and fairly new to NLHE aswell, however reading your comments/recommendations I think next time i'm definitely check-raising. I seem to play too tightly with my games which in turn leaves me with a lack of info. Either way, I went on to take away a 1st place, almost religiously following nash's strat (which has granted me over a 50% ITM so far) I got lucky I suppose

Like I've been sayin the whole time... He's got a crappy ace, and it's an EASY CALL... Okay... I forgot to add the "Party Poker players are idiots" factor into my equation... Jesus... I knew he had a crap Ace, but figured it had to be better than THAT...

BTW God (THAT sounds funny... First time I've talked to God in 10 years, and it's to give poker advice )... People aren't telling you to play less tight... They're telling you to play more Tight/Aggressive and less Weak/Tight, which this hand is... Bet harder when you got something, and take control of the hands... Amen...

I was about to comment on the same thing as MVP. There's a difference between weak/tight, which is how you played it, and tight/aggressive, which is how you should have played it. Your problem was playing your great hand too passively.

Always keep in mind that on the first hand, there will be a lot of moronic plays. This is ESPECIALLY true on PP.

Let me add here that in a $5 or $1 SnG, I always assume that those minibets and miniraises mean there isn't much behind them. If they actually have a strong hand, they're usually creaming themselves waiting to get their chips in the pot.

Perhaps it's just on UB... but AA or KK usually is played by min-raising, min re-raising, or limping. And on the flop... any time there is a min re-raise it usually means set or overpair.
